 |
|
1998 cbr 600 f3,
Changed the oil from magnatech fully synth to motul fully synth (smells like shampoo?! Damn fancy stuff) and now there is a rumble when the clutch is let out in neutral but all seems fine in gear and the clutch is not slipping? Never experienced a rumble over the 14k I've had the bike and it seems a little suspect it appearing right after an oil change? Am mildly concerned because the bike is up for a track day soon
Any thoughts before I get some more magnatech to flush it out?
Changed spark plugs/filter and exhaust stud at the same time but doubt any of that's likely to have an effect tbh..
Best regards |

It was originally magnatech or something very similar (don't have the bottle anymore) but that never gave me any problems over the last 12 months or so...
I suspect this new motul oil is the cause however it's motorbike specific fully synth...
Am a bit perplexed |

For me it would be the option of stripping the clutch and taking a look or just carry on riding it.
I know what my choice would be.
I've had clutches rumble and rattle on a few bikes, never taken too much notice unless there were other symptoms. ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |

97 F3 here, the clutch rumble with the lever released (in neutral) is normal. Annoyingly ____________________ CBR600 F3 FV

I consulted the wisdom of google immediately after it happened,
confirmed Honda and rumbley clutches is an actual thing (like Honda reg's ).
Buuttttt MY Honda never had a rumbley clutch until the strawberries and cream Engine oil went in (Did i mention it smells great?)
Getting on 47,000 miles and planning to hit a track day in a few days I'm concerned somethings not right and its going to be potato'd 5 mins into the day...
Will pop out on it and give it some abuse this evening and see what happens... 20 minute sessions on the track so just have to give it some beans for half an hour and if all goes well I'll accept the rumblings...
Best regards |

Took it out for a hoon and all I can say is I approve!
Possibly all in my head but the clutch feels much sharper...
Maybe fancy oils are the way to go
Did I mention is smells as good as those fancy shampoos?
Is this now a thing?
Cheers all. |
