I am thinking of buying a gsx650f 2007 with about 10,000 miles but i am wondering what common faults i should be looking for on this bike.

Has anybody on here owned one?

I have a 2009 GSXR600 at the moment that i use for summer fun. How much of a downgrade will the gsx650f feel compared to my GSXR?

A quick snap of my pride and joy. Can anybody guess where the photo was taken?

My wife had the bandit version of that year, rather than the faired one. Only problems with hers (other than weight) were the finish. Wheel paint was flaking badly.

You've posted in the wrong part of the forum, which probably explains the lack of replies.

As for how a GSX650F will feel compared to a GSXR 6...

The GSXR 6 is much better prepped, better suspension, better brakes, more power, less weight etc. and it's very noticeable when jumping between the two.

In reality, for inner city commuting the GSX F will probably feel better. I'd imagine it'd be more fuel efficient and comfortable. With more than enough power for an inner city commute.

As for proper rides, they're worlds apart. I went from a Mk2 Bandit 6 to a K3 GSXR 6 and the GSXR wins in every department besides comfort and even then I've never really found it that uncomfortable tbh. The extra ponies and better chassis really show.

Check the exhaust for rot. Check the maintenance history or look around the bike carefully for signs of how well it's been looked after, many people are too lazy to remove the fairings to carry out servicing.

That's more of a common issue on the oil cooled GSX-F's and Bandit's, I don't think it's a problem with the newer water cooled Bandit's and GSX-F's.

The only thing i'd say to check is that the suspension is in good working order (alongside your typical checks). They have soft basic suspension as standard, so any faults in suspension will be amplified through the already crap (imo) setup.
Although OP's potential new bike only has 10k miles, I can't imagine the suspension being completely shot just yet.

Only common fault would be the fact it doesn't come with a pillow or quilt when you fall asleep.
