My uncle has been clearing through some of my late grandad's old bits and found one of his old driving license books.

He used to ride a bike occasionally after a stint in the army, although wouldn't call himself a biker.

Anyway, got a photo of this as it made me giggle.

Very Happy

That would have been about £100 like for like in today's money, I think. Pretty whopping fine, in other words he was a very naughty boy Laughing

Nope. Never knew about it to ask when he was alive!

He was a fairly good boy apart from that, as far as I know. Apparently modified his bicycle with a bolt-on engine when he was serving to help him nip around the barracks, but went on to sell ladies underwear in the markets later on in life. Lad Thumbs Up

I reckon he went the wrong side of an island with a keep left arrow on it. They were in use in 1969, before that they just had the words 'keep left' on them rather than the blue and white arrow.

The arrow was required so licences could be issued to those that didn't know their left or right. 😁

Wrong way up a one way street not a possibility? I'd have thought that there were quite a few terms that offence could refer to.

It would probably amount to that if it was from 1919, and that's a random guess there. Wink

It's not a very specific coded offence, is it. Grandma has said she never knew about it either Laughing

Ah well, guess I'll never know.

I know a guy who got banned for drink driving and told no-one. He was only found out a couple of years later when his company had everyone bring their licenses in so they could update their driving records.

Well, we're talking about the sixties here so I bet he was wheelying naked over Tower Bridge with CND emblems painted on his chest and a flower sticking out of his bum.

Cool story etc
