Hi All,

I started a thread recently about somewhere good to get my Triumph ST-R serviced and got some really helpful replies (thanks again Thumbs Up ).

However, I just thought I'd mention Muddy Sump to anyone who hasn't heard of this travelling one man band. His services were recommended to me through a friend and I'd never heard of the business, so I thought many of you fellow Trumpet owners perhaps haven't either.

Its owned and run by a bloke called David (who looks really young) and he travels around the whole of the U.K. as a mobile servicing unit. He's been extremely prompt, polite and helpful in his replies to me so far and everything I've read on forums, testimonials and the FB page say that he is absolutely outstanding and excellent value for money. He has quite a cool back story, too.

He's servicing my bike in June while he's up in Scotland and so I'll report back on how things go Thumbs Up .

Im not associated with him or his business in any way, by the way, I just thought his services may be of interest or at least worth considering for some on here.

Cheers,

Mark

That's a very interesting business he's got going there. I'd far rather have a specific mechanic come out at an arranged time and do an observed job, than drop it off and hope for the best. Thinking

I agree, I'm looking forward to meeting him when he comes up and to see how things go. From what I've read from customers, he encourages people to stick around as he works and is very willing to chat people through everything he's doing, give advice and pass on knowledge to his customers while he works. My knowledge of how a bike works may go from zero to nigh-on!

Might try him on my garage queen next time her bodice needs fluffing. Got to be cheaper than a Triumph dealer.

Hi All,

As promised, thought I'd give a quick update post-service. As it turns out I was out of the country when David (Muddy Sump) was able to service my bike while he was up North but my uncle who lives just up the road got him access to it.

My uncle has been a biker for most of his life (58 now) and enjoys spannering more than riding them now, I think. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of how mechanical things work and has built and rebuilt many a classic bike over the years. Anyway, just to set the scene.

He hung around and spoke to David for a bit as he was working and said he was impressed both at his knowledge and way of working. Also that he was a thoroughly nice chap and, as I had read, was more than happy to have company throughout the entire job which must only be a good sign.

The bike feels good, everything on the service check-list ticked off, he was at it for a good few hours, and charged £145 (6K service) all in which included new brake fluid. Furthermore, Triumph warranties are maintained as genuine Triumph parts are used when required.

As before, no affiliation here, just giving a bit of credit where I feel it's due and feel that many on here might be interested, for the sheer convenience of the whole set-up if nothing else.

Will use again Thumbs Up .

Cheers

i really like the idea of using this guy, i tend to do most jobs myself until i hit a problem or if its anything serious.

is there a section where you could post his details up for future use?

also, just to gauge pricing, what did your job include exactly?

In response to Ruby's questions;

I was going to write it all out but realised I'm far too lazy so took a few pictures of the documentation instead. Ticks are obvious, apparent squiggles say, 'N/A'.

Google 'Muddy Sump' to get all necessary contact details etc Thumbs Up . Several Triumph forums have pages of impressed customers.

Hope that's helpful.

Cheers,

Mark
