Hi all,

I'm getting increasingly concerned about the lack of front brakes on my CM200 - it's a single leading shoe drum, and even with new pads, a new cable and a thorough degrease with brake cleaner, they are still about as effective as putting my feet down (possibly less).

I know the simplest solution is just to get a different bike, but I am quite attached to it - it does all I need it to and returns about 85mpg which I wouldn't get with many other bikes that can comfortably hold 65mph (my commute is mainly urban motorways - 60mph limits).

Does anyone know if the front end off of another bike (ideally disk braked) would fit on the CM? I'm not concerned about looks, so it doesn't matter if it's a spoked or cast wheel.

TLS drum front end off a CB250K or CB200. Will outperform most discs unless you do sommat daft like stick a CBR600 front end on.

Hmm, it's a good idea for sure, but could be easier said than done - trouble will be finding everything (wheel, spindle, forks, brake outer, speedo drive) for something of that age.

I'll have a think, but in the meantime have bought some EBC shoes to replace the no-name ones in there at present - it might help a little bit.
