GSXR 600 running BT016s Hypersports

what should the tyre pressures be?
currently 38psi front and 41psi rear

debating if that is too much and should be 36psi front and rear or 40psi front and 42psi rear

mostly rural roads, twisties, not alot of city riding or motorway riding

Thumbs Up

that's pretty much the standard for most tyres.

that said its a little down to personal preference. i like bridgestones, but they're quite hard sidewalled so i run them a couple of psi lower for a little more flex, but that's just me.

iirc Michelin are quite soft walled so you'd most likely run them at spec but again.. depends on your preference.

Tyre pressures are only recommended, as said it`s up to you.
I set mine at 34psi front & 36psi rear. solo use.

They are the recommended pressures for my Street Triple, but I run 38/34 as the bike feels better like this. I'm only just over ten stone, so that might make a difference too.

I stick with the standard for modern tyres (with some exceptions) of 36psi front and 42psi rear. If your bike is a few years old they probably don't make the original tyres anymore so ignore the recommended pressures in the bike's manual and refer to the tyre manufacturer's website instead. Thereafter I adjust the suspension if I'm unhappy with the ride, leaving the tyre pressures alone. I'd say there's not much flex in a motorcycle tyre wall anyway, and the contact patch and profile are fine tuned for a combination of grip, water expulsion and turn rate so I don't mess with that.
