Well I recently bought a motad exhaust for my bike, and not having much luck getting a mechanic this time of year to do it for me, as most of them are tied up doing loads of PDI's on new bikes for March 1st.

So kindly Babyyams other half gave up his sunday to come and help (I say help but he did most of the work Very Happy) fit the exhaust.

So what we needed was one bike:

https://www.craiggiles2.f2s.com/bike.JPG

And one new to me Motad Exhaust:

https://www.craiggiles2.f2s.com/exhaust.JPG

So we removed the old one which came off supprisingly easily, with alot of fiddling though. (I did soke the studs in WD40 over night though which meant the came off easier)

Once it was off we spotted this damage, from where it was blowing:

https://www.craiggiles2.f2s.com/split.JPG

Once we got the old one off, we set about attaching the new one to the bike, after a cup of tea of course!

And within about 10-20 mins the new exhaust was fully fitted on the bike and we had it running, only abit of tightening was require too!

So here is the bike with the new exhaust, and I can tell you it has made a difference! The bike seems to have alot more midrange, and better acceleration aswell its now running better due to it not blowing now!

Thanks again John! As I would have never gotten the exhaust fitted to the bike at all if it wasn't for you, and I owe you alot of pints of beer. Very Happy

So what did you do with your Sunday then? Smile

This morning. I slept.

This afternoon, I've been at rehersal for Cinderella. I'm not on stage, I'm the sound person. This gives me the right to make a lot of noise Very Happy

Looks like the same exhaust I've got on my bike - have you found it rubs against the bottom right of the bellypan?

That's interesting - part of my bellypan has melted thanks to the exhaust touching it!

Yeah I also have difficulty getting to the sump plug - a mashed screw on the fairing dosn't help with oil changes either!

Oh well, sending it in for a full service to get everything checked and sorted seems the easiest (and most sensible) option!

You can get on the sump plug with a ring spanner or a wobble-bar socket.

I had a leisurely lie in then took a wazz on the MZ up to Heartside Cafe for lunch and to get my tyres properly scrubbed to the edges. Sunshine, dry roads, parsnip curry soup and a roll, a bit of craigh round the fire at the cafe then home. About 150 miles in total and no police in sight (which is very unusual for Heartside pass). I can think of worse ways to spend a Sunday Smile

today I got on my bike at 6:45.. and went for an 8 hour blast from Blackpool, up over Shap, through Penrith, Keswick, Barrow, back to Lancaster and back home again... a sponsored ride in aid of the Tsunami Appeal.. over 100 bikes setting off from Blackpool Prom is a sight to see!!!

Cars stopped dead in the road to let us pull out from roads and roundabouts...

Quality day.. Dry Roads. Sun Shining.. Bit Chilly... Got home.. Tired.. Cold.. but with a warm glowey feeling that today was one of those 'Good Days'!

Today i went into the garage to look at it, sat there, cold and looking sorry for itself.
Oh god i miss playing out and getting squashed flies on my visor.
I miss going out for a midweek afternoon blatt and getting the adrenalin pumping.
Here's another LAKES pass i did in the car 2 weeks ago.

I spent all sunday at work thinking about my bike being restricted today. Can't wait.

I've got an exhaust like that one, says Nexxus on it. My GPZ doesn't look as nice though, everyone says it's pink. Been wondering for a while now, do you think it's possible to get knee down on the GPZ with an exhaust like that? Seems to stick out quite a bit and looks low down. Taking it into Hunts in about 30 mins, should be able to ride it by dinner time Very Happy

Rick.

Spent the weekend working on the bike also, trying to hunt down a starter/ignition problem. Pretty sure I know what it is now Smile

Nice one craig, adn even better that the exhaust doesn't touch any of the bodywork. My remus system on the er5 has burnt its way through a bit of my undertray Laughing

Just hang off more. I've not yet managed KD on the GPZ, though I did manage it once on the GS500 I had which also had a Motad Nexxus exhaust!

'HUNTS' Shocked , your mad mad mad going there, what a bunch of money grabbing cowboys. I've recently had a run in with them, full of lies and only interested in lining their own pockets.
They aren't even motorcyclists, theyr'e business men.
My brother has his own bike shop/workshop in Edgely and works on any bike (but specialises in Italian stuff), 122 Grenville Street, Stockport. His name is Mark and he'll be only to happy to assist you in any work, tips etc for far less than 'HUNTS' Thumbs Up

I speak from experience when I say that various other parts of the bike touch down before the exhaust.

Only went to hunts really because it was cheaper than everywhere else. Got a friend of a friend who works there. He's only a salesperson but he does race supermoto.

Went for a ride with my mates. Watched one of them bottle it at the crest of a humpback bridge and land an NC30 front wheel first. Quite amusing... Was ragging bike and trying to get things down testing out my new shock.
