 Posted: 21:14 - 22 Jun 2016 Post subject: Derbi Senda 50 de restricted? |
 |
|
If you saw my other post you will know that my friend has bought a Derbi Senda 50cc. We bought it because I got it for a very good price off a friend and that they can supposedly do 60 mph stock de restricted. When we bought the bike off him he told me that he could get 55-60 mph out of it. But then he took it for a service and since then it is only going 35-40 mph. Could they have just down jetted the carb or restricted the air filter? Any replies would be appreciated

Because it's like walking into a Mc Donalds, ordering a regular hamburger, then asking the chef how to turn it into a steak supper... because either you cant afford a steak supper, or you are too young to be trusted with a steak-knife... but either way, you bught a buldy hamburger, and it ent never gonna be a steak supper!
Mopeds cannot be de-restricted - the 'restrictin' that makes them a 'moped' is on your driving licence, where catagory regs say it must be under 50c and not capable of more than 35mph or whatever the EU mandated conversion from french happens to be these days.
You can 'modify' a moped from manufacturers stated specifications to go faster than regs for a moped allow... but then it ent a moped any more... it's a motorcycle, and even if it was modified to be capable of such heady speeds of maybe almost 60mph?.... still a rather pitifully slow one.
Granted, it's not as abhorent perhaps as the kids round here tearing about on un-registered, un-taxed, un-insured pit-bikes lidless and licenceless... But in the grand scheme of things? Its hardly a bit of criminal genius; and at least those pit-bike pratts with 110 or 125 or even 140cc motors in them are get the reward for the risks they take... but its not much of a step up the food chain. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

No such thing as a premium/upgrade woodruff key, it's genuine wear n tear after many many miles |
Err.... woodruff key.. a half penny washer that sits between two non-moving parts to provide keying location..... HOW in the hell can you 'wear' one out exactly?
And yes, there ARE better grades of key! I have had a pre-Honda Montessa for thirty years; it has a heavy Motoplat rotor for smoother low-speed running, a state of de-tune for seriously low-down torque for trials, and notoriously VERY 'weak' rotor key, prone to shearing.... but generally only if the rotor isn't fitted properly, the taper cleaned & lightly lubed and the rotor nut properly torqued.. Ie the primary drive locked before trying to tighten it, AND remembering its a left had thread and no-one has stripped the threads in previous attempts to take it off.
Meanwhile.... ALL that money on parts to make a slow-ped, infinitesimally less slow, less reliable, less economical, less valuable, less legal, and not a moped... and endow it, maybe, when it actually plays ball and works..... with about as much performance as a Chinky CG copy motor cruiserette! Genius!! Shear genius, ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

You cannot 'wear' out parts that don't 'rub'.. a woodruff key is specifically intended to stop two parts having any relative motion, and therefore rubbing, therefore you cannot 'wear' one out. Only way it'll break is if its grossly over-loaded... or badly assembled... aided or abetted by being a shit-metal 'pattern' part.
Gunning it up steep inclines while slipping the clutch in higher gears for more grip like these inclines...

You know, I usually let the tyres pressures down a few PSI for 'traction' and use momentum, when I can, to minimise how much I eed, and don't have to negotiate a nadgery obstacle half way up a 45 degree slope, and I do it all clutch-out for 'control..
But Fuck-Me... I must have bee doing it all wrong for forty years! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
