Getting an IT job at short notice

Hi all, my current job at the moment (IT engineer, 2nd/3rd line) seems to be a dead end with no hint of any progression despite my best efforts. They are running a voluntary exit scheme currently to save some cash and do an overhaul. I have put myself forwards for this exit scheme and if I were to be accepted stand to get quite a large lump of cash.

The managers still need need to look at everyone who has applied and choose who they want to leave, and who to keep. If they allow me to take the exit scheme I'd want to get a job pretty sharpish, as I'd be getting 6 months pay with the voluntary exit scheme. So to make it worth my while I want another job lined up so I'm not eating in to my payout.

So my question is: are there any easy ways of quickly getting a job in IT? I imagine this leads me down the contracting/temping route (I've always been permanent). Do IT temping agencies exist? Would I be making a bad decision by jumping ship?

Unfortunately your going to have to brace for the dregs who call themselves recruitment agencies.

Get your CV on Jobsite and keep removing and uploading it every few days. this way it will be closer to the top of any searches.
then be prepared for calls which have very little bearing to your CV.

You can install the Jobsite and Jobserve apps on your phone and have them alert you when a job comes in that matches certain key works, you have have a CV stored in your profile and "one click" apply.

in an ideal world you would see a suitable job, send a suitable cv, get and interview and secure the job.

in today's world recruiters are spamming all sorts of shit.
everyone is an IT expert because they figured out how to jailbreak their phones.
so it is one big fishing game.

one thing its really important to do is to grow a very thick skin, keep applying and taking calls from recruiters...
sooner or later the noise will turn into an interview.

if you get a face to face and the job spec has tech on their you are not familiar with then get familiar before the interview

I'm now in a permanent position after starting as a temp through Reed in Preston, they were actually really helpful and got me in the temp job within 2 days.
