125mph in a 70mph

No slaughtered kittens, nice sunny day on dual carriageway.

Worth getting a solicitor?

Ban. Fine. Arse rape.

Solicitor might help make the arse rape a bit less painful with some professional lube.

Ban is discretionary, table part way down this page https://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Accused_Home/SpeedVSFines/SpeedVSFines.htm may offer some hope.

I'd say bye bye license for a while.

If you are very lucky and have a clean license, then you may get a stacking of points and a big big fine, and that'll be best case scenario.

Get a lawyer, do not talk to the Police prior to lawyering up. You have the right to remain silent. Excersise that right.

This was written as just a joke, of course. But thinking along these lines would, hypothetically, 'work' (with a few adaptations) to evade a licence revocation and a criminal record. A good thing you wouldn't do this in real life, as it might be conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and perjury.

If you claimed such things, this thread would have a fair likelihood of being dug up by the prosecution and used as evidence, and you would be challenged to prove the bike was up for sale.

I heard of a guy that looked through the obituaries in his local paper to find someone recently deceased to name as a driver.

Such bad things people do...

IF you're charged with speeding and it goes to a mags court, the guideline that they'll be using is at https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/item/speeding/

Unfortunately for a 70 limit the guideline only goes up to 110mph, so it's at their discretion what they do over and above that. For reference, a "band B" fine starts at a week's income, ranging from 75% to 125%.

For that sort of speed, you could well be charged with careless / dangerous driving, at which point all bets are off.

Steve.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

No effin way! That's a new low of the human race. But on the flip side, I wonder how it panned out, any idea?

As far as I can remember (was some years ago), it was a story about how someone got away with it. He basically heard nothing back about it.

Yes. 0-jail in less than 10 seconds.

And OP should be aware that jail IS a possability at that speed, depending on circumstances and what he's actually charged with. He should get well lawyered up.

I would echo the not talking to the police without first getting direct and specific legal advice from an expert. You do not have to go in for an interview unless you are under arrest regardless of what they might imply, nor should you unless your brief thinks it's a good idea. The police are not trying to find out what you didn't do.

It is.

If I was sitting at 65 on my busa and overtook something, I would be well into 3 figures by the time I was past him. Bike acceleration on that sort of bike is unreal.

I'd either start planning to sell my bike, might look good in the eyes of the wig wearers.

Or start getting the bike for a pretty long hibernation.
