No bugger makes hard luggage for the CBR600 F3 (FV). Doing more mileage now 2 up, I need to sort something more comfortable than this...

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13319980_10154310818494390_7416995461521141924_n.jpg?oh=e2c39040c2bb628ae2f3936e10ca6883&oe=5833343B

These are touted as "soft bag support", but do you think you could attach hard panniers?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR-600-F3-SOFT-BAG-SUPPORT-/141677414797?hash=item20fca1c98d:g:1FIAAOSwrklVZNAy

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDgwMA==/z/ziwAAOSwKrhVZNAy/$_57.JPG

If not, is there anywhere that could make a pannier rack?

Any fab shop will make you a panier rack if you supply the drawings, measurements and monies I'd imagine!

Those soft pannier supports need extra reinforcement to be able to hold hard side panniers. They are missing a under loop to prevent them from twisting inwards too.

TBH don't have them made from scratch. Have something modified as custom made is very expensive.

Hell if I were you I'd buy this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NONFANGO-HP34-CBR600-1995-96-TOP-RACK-FITTING-KIT-ONLY-NEW-CBR-600F-INCOMPLETE-/112051736526?hash=item1a16cdcfce:g:e3QAAOSw0e9U0hr9

I can supply you with the arms and angle adjusters for postage AND a massive massive 52 litre top box that slots ontop of it. My CBR is destroyed so I don't need them anymore.

A wingrack wouldn't be hard to adapt on to those types of fittings even though they don't do the universal kit anymore. Or have you checked the measurements on osmething similar? Wouldn't surprise me if grab rail is standard size and you can bend the footpeg bar.

I'm interested in hearing how the cbr is for touring... thinking of getting a cbr600fi f4, and want to be able to do a few weeks away on it. Probably not 2 up. I'm 6 foot 5 though, is it cramped? Hows the seat? I have quite a bony arse and struggle even on my deauville seat.

Go see my France and Spain tour in my sig. I took a CBR6F carb out to France and Spain. It managed very well. TBH the CBR seat is a huge long plank unless you get the Sport version. So it's fairly comfortable. Top tip is if you get crash bungs you can hook your legs on them.

You can also get a top yoke riser (but not from cool and comfy)to change the lean forward. It does deck out a bit quickly though. At 40mph you can get your hero blobs down.

Get a rack and top box so your poor pillion can relax and lean back. Panniers or throw overs and tank bag. Done.

Agree with this. Soft panniers will allow comfortable legroom for Sam, the topbox will take the stuff off her back and you can stack vertically then. The tank bag takes the rest (just looking at what you had there).

Hard luggage gives you a little peace of mind if the bike is to be loaded, out of site for a long time. But they are heavy, expensive and not space efficient as well as limiting / impeding pillion position potentially.

I guess it depends on priorities.

A chap on here just made his own throw oever panniers using canvas school satchels. Very simple and cost effective and could tide you over if you wanted to change bikes to something that came with hard luggage.

Do Renntec do anything? Or Ventura Luggage systems?

Thanks Itchy, very noble of you. Does it come with the plate too?

And the others, having seen hard luggage, it does seem to limit pillion foot placement to heel instead of ball of the foot, which surely can't be as safe under braking. Renntec do the top box, but no pannier provision. I'll look at Ventura. I'll need to fashion something if we get soft panniers to stop the paintwork getting destroyed

Plenty room for pillion and panniers. I had mine set back due to same issue. I had spare indicators what hooked onto the rack as the panniers covered the original ones. Even if you had small sports ones it takes the strain off the back of the pillion. How many lt is that ruck sack she is using? My panniers are 40 per side expandable to 60. Even if you had small 20lt a side and a 40lt top box with a 20lt tank bag that is 100lt, then you have the top of the top box. Another option on the top box is a rack like this.

If you are intent upon loading the bike with half your worldly possessions, would it not be easier to just get an ST1100/Dullvile/Sprint ST/FJR/K1200 or any other specific tourer?

Alternatively get Mrs Fox through her DAS and then you have two bikes to spread the load between.

They are old Oxford Lifetime luggage i bought in the 90's and still going strong. Not got the top box on but you see what i mean by sitting luggage back a bit. You can just see the mini indicator at the top rear. That tank bag has since been replaced. That was an old strap on from the 80's what i put a magnetic base on. That seen a few miles over the years. Got a nice expandable Oxford one now what turns into a ruck sack.

£1500 gets you a clean, lowish miles Deauville. You know it's the best option.

Soft panniers and a big top box also a good option.

Better; tell your pillion to sort out their own bike!

We're were touring Europe for 3weeks and I had the same issue with my zx6r j1 .
I ended up buying a full pannier and top box set with the rack for a TDM , I bought cheap rubbish pillion foot pegs to drill holes in for fixings .
Attached to that and my Rentec rack , had to used some thread rod to tighten it all up, worked really well .
I sat for a few nights working it all out , fair few mistakes but I got there .
I'd post pics but I'm away from home ATM .
