A priest has been killed in an attack by two armed men at his church near Rouen in northern France, police and French media have said.
The armed men entered the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray during mass, taking the priest, two nuns and several churchgoers hostage, reports said.
French TV said shots had been heard after police arrived at the scene. Both hostage-takers are now dead.
The area has been cordoned off and police have told people to stay away.
At least one person is receiving medical treatment for injuries.
There was no immediate indication of the identity or motive of the hostage-takers, but France has been on high alert since the Bastille Day attack in Nice earlier this month, when an attacker ploughed a lorry into celebrating crowds, killing more than 80 people.

When Jehovah's Witnesses Go Bad?

Meanwhile, it got a bit snackbar-redux at the Munich snackbar memorial and Deutsch-Dredd went into full appeasement mode.

So, are we actually in a civil war now? I thought there would have been a memo. I'll check my spam folder.

Look at the brightside? It's another nail (though there are so many nails I'm not sure if there is space for more nails) in the coffin of the EUtopia project.

The tin foil hatters are convinced that inviting and encouraging snackbar is a pretext to declaring eternal martial law with a paramilitarised Europol force.

Bit early for that, but given the croaking about "a new security culture" coming from Le Frogs, and that the early signs are that le nouvelle culture de sécurité (and the Hunnish equivalent) will be more concerned with cracking down on critics and opponents of EUrophile regimes, it's not sounding as entirely cuckoo-bendy-bananas as it used to.

If we see Marie La Penn or Wilders die in convenient car crashes next year?

The political class. Most career politicians still have to go through the unpleasant routine of being voted in every few years, plus the day-to-day ignominy of having their will and wisdom questioned.

If they can just do away with effective competition in the name of stability, then they can get on with dictating benignly, bonum commune communitatis.

My understanding (as a Little Britain xenophobe) is that this is pretty much the goal of the EU project: to form a stable ruling body above the concerns of petty populism and the whims of the electorate.

Being reported in the Independent that the Kebabs pledged support to Alan's snackbar.

fight and slay the kafir wherever you find them, and enslave them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war.

I hope this is helpful to M. Hollande's understanding.

No more bets for the Frenchy priest but now there's been a shooting in Germany.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/berlin-hospital-shooting-gunman-shoots-doctor-in-german-clinic-a3304841.html

I think what everyone really wants to bet on is when will something snackbar related will happen in the UK.

As opposed to Sharia May who presided over the largest swarm of migrants that we've ever seen, and has barely hissed a word about it since relocating her lair to Number 10?

She's not roaming around karate chopping detonators out of snackbaristas' hands, if that's what you're imagining. Our borders are currently so porous de facto that they might as well be open de jure.

I dunno there is/was this hate spreader imam or something. He praised terrible things...

Yet he was still invited to go meet several important UK people and wasn't denied a visa.

When did I become pro May? I just said I play her immigrant cat speech back and masturbate over it Shifty

Corbyn was of the let them all in opinion during the migrant crisis (you know before they got bored of reporting about it), and comes across as the sort of dictator who wouldn't listen otherwise. As a wartime PM he'd be more take our daughters than we shall never surrender.

Sharia has already done so. The Calais swarmlet is essentially just a distraction from the half-million (and the rest) that she's waved in every year. Her actions speak a lot louder than whatever rhetoric she's spouting. As to that, I honestly don't care what she has to say about anything. She's a consummate politician.

What Syrian refugees/ISIS infiltrators/whoever jumped in a boat and made it without dying? I thought it was in the tens of thousands, and they were taking them from refugee camps, not waving through whoever turned up at the border (like zee Germans).

But according to the news, she's "condemned" the attack. I bet that'll resolve the entire Muslim extremism issue.

Why on earth do the news feel the need to announce this? She's hardly going to congratulate the killers.

What next, the Muslim community condemning it too?

I haven't seen it - I don't watch TV much these days. Did she condemn the attack as an Islamic terrorist attack or would I be correct in assuming she made no mention of the words Islam, Muslim, terrorist or jihad?
