Howdy all, Not really a new rider, but i've been a member on this site some years ago maybe some people recognize me but most won't i'm sure.
Anyway I had a bad spill on my CBR600RR, my fault, Thankfully no one seriously hurt but it caused quite a financial situation and wrecked my self esteem to the point it wasn't worth picking a bike back up for a while, that was five years ago in April just gone.
Ive been wanting to get back into it more and more each year over the last few years and recently a prime opportunity presented itself. I am a big Honda fan boi so when I heard about a friend of a friend selling a VFR800 (gen5, 1998) I was very keen
Now I know VFR's kind of split the community a bit for a few different reasons but I've had her a week now and I really love it, very comfortable, very fast , very smooth.
So in short I'm back on the road
p.s. thank god I passed my test before all these new tests and crap were brought in :-/ feel sorry for all your new guys in this board trying to pass test after test just to work up to a big bike -_-
p.s.s As this VFR will almost certainly break down or need work within moments of this post being made which will require the total and complete disassembly of everything from the swing arm forward can anyone point me to any friendly board members or sources who have worked specifically with this bike? Google searches are flooded with gen6 tutorials and guides, but not so much on the gen5 which makes things annoying lol ____________________ Anyone stupid enough to think we will drag a load of wooden horses full of soldiers into our city is certanley stupid enough to drag all of ours into theirs! |

Thanks folks its a nice bike to ride. Its odd as i see people say that are super reliable but then others that say they are a money pit....i guess time will tell.
I can save on labour for jobs doing though as i have a large garage with tools and some automotive experiance on classic beetles :p
The plan is to strip her down and do a bit of a restoration job. See if we cant get her back to looking and running almost new. ____________________ Anyone stupid enough to think we will drag a load of wooden horses full of soldiers into our city is certanley stupid enough to drag all of ours into theirs! |
