Hello,

My girlfriend and I am travelling to Zante, Greece.

We want to rent a quadbike a few days, but we don't know much about them.

We can rent 50cc, 80cc or 150cc.

Is 50cc enough for 2 persons in a terrain with lots of hills.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards

Personally I'd say no, I'd want the 150cc - but check your travel insurance and see if there's any restrictions on engine size of motor vehicles.

If you're planning on riding it on tarmac, don't, get a scooter or a proper motorbike instead. Quad bikes are fucking horrible to ride on tarmac. Especially smaller ones which tend to have no differential.

If you're going offroad all the time, more is more. A 50cc quad bike, while a good laugh, is pretty much a kids toy.

I doubt there are many quads of less than 400cc which are designed to take two passengers. I may be wrong but I see a lot of quad bikes in the UK as I work in the agricultural sector and most of them are single seaters.

Don't think it's safer just because it has four wheels. I'd say for an inexperienced rider, the chances of injuring yourself are WAY higher on a quad bike than on a scooter. For one thing, very few people manage to flip a scooter then run themselves over with it. It's a common problem on a quad.

TL;DR. Quads are for off road use. And are a total hoot when used as such. They aren't a good form of road transport.

Thx for the advice. When it comes to scooter, how many CC for 2 persons?

I did 80 miles across a volcanic island with missus on the back on a kymko 125.

It managed it but it struggled in places.

the big 400cc quad I use every week is for one person

I would say have a small car for zante or get taxis the services are great and so was the bus and very cheap

we went round the island on a coach trip it took us to all the tourist places and stopped for lunch and afternoon refreshments all included in the price and it was still cheaper then paying to get in to places and got a three course meal with drinks as well

As many as possible.

I'm going to take a wild guess that you don't have a motorcycle license. Greece may consider you to have A1 as a freebie with a B car license, but that only gets you on a 125.

A few years back my Uncle (an experienced biker) and his then-wife hired a scooter in Zante (it was more often called something like zakinthos then).
Going slowly he hit a piece of road that had been polished by the sand into a beautiful glass surface, and down he went which rather spoilt the last few days there, especially when the graze got infected and it resulted in constant ear ache from her for the balance of the holiday....
Translation 'be very very careful as gravel rash hurts like hell'

125cc should be fine, if you're just pottering around.
