It makes sense for some armed plod to be on bikes as they stand a good chance of being able to get places quicker than their mates in cars with flashy lights.

Whether armed plod being faster to respond will be of any benefit when Alan opens a snackbar in London is debatable.

This team has been in place for years, the change is that they are increasing the numbers of armed police generally. It's very difficult to stop a terrorist as we've seen, this is mostly just to make people feel better. A terrorist with a brain will just carry out short sharp attacks in large town and flee before the police arrive.

Personally ( & yes l live in the land of the famous 2nd amendment) I think there should be a bigger police presence anywhere that an attack could take place & that they should be armed.

OK, my idea doesn't hold water because how does anyone know where an attack could take place, & secondly exactly which Brit cops have the ability to carry & use guns?
