It was round 5 with Thundersport GB at Oulton Park, a track I have never done before, ever. It's a short weekend due to the religeous lot in the area. We had testing and qualification on the Friday, and 2 races on the Saturday, the races were double points due to the shortness of it.

I was racing with a mate of mine for the first time too, he recently bought a R6 13s, so newer, lighter blah blah blah. This race was on, man points are at stake.

Friday

The morning composed of four sessions for me to learn the track and get up to some sort of decent pace to stand any sort of chance to get into the race. There were 40 places avalible and there were 46 riders that had entered the class, I was a little nervous as I had not done this track before.

Testing went alright, better than expected anyway, i was about 30th on the timings sheet, so that put me well above the Quallification bracket. On the first session however, I did take a small shortcut across the grass at the first chicane, it is not the way to do it. Laughing

Qualification, Went out with my mate, he was lapping 2 seconds quicker than me Shocked Until some dude cut me up whilst I was on a hot lap and I saw red. Started to chase this chap, god knows what i would have done if I caught him, wagged my finger, who knows. Anyway, he was fast, I didn't catch him, but it did quicken my pace, by 4 seconds a lap, I out qualified my mate by 2 seconds and nailed the new time on the last avalible lap. Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

He was pissed and sulked, I celebrated quietly as I felt bad for him, looking back I should have rubbed his nose in it, you'll understand why in the next section. I qualified 27th (6th in class), he qualified 33rd Mr. Green

Here's a couple of pics of the Qually and testing;

Race day

We had an eight minute warm up where my pal wanted to make some manhood points back up and decided to go out behind me just to prove a point that he was better. He did it pretty well, overtook me and maintained it. This is where he decided to laugh at my face and rub it in how he is going to beat me in the race, who needs enemies huh!

Race 1 we had a red flag on the first lap and they sat us on the grid for 20 mins, this gave me a chance to chat to my fellow racers and see how they were.

https://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Neileng/Oulton%20Park/13558938_1716170665302081_517351486787242346_o_zpshzqdlivk.jpg

This gave us 2 warm up laps and then a 7 lap race, so pretty short. Had an amazing start pushing me up 3 places in my class and about 10 places overall. My pal, well he had a rubbish start and made up one place Laughing Laughing Laughing

During the race I found myself slipping back, and back and back, my times maintained around the 1:54 mark, which aren't great and the ever fearful thought was rattling around in my head, my mate will be along soon.

https://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Neileng/Oulton%20Park/13528143_828915230542838_6054231074506880293_o_zpsy4rmo4b2.jpg

On the brakes;

I found myself pretty much back where I started towards the end of the race, 26th (6th in class) and on the last lap, on the back straight I glanced back and saw his silver R6 gaining on me (about 1-2 seconds behind), I powered down and got up the hill and approaching Druids, the double apex corner and this is where I decided to be in the incorrect gear and power down as I normally would in between each apex. Surprise surprise my rear tyre lost grip and span out sending me out the race, bare in mind this was 3 corners and one straight away from the finish line and victory over my mate. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

He said he saw me crash, but nowhere in the pictures do I see him, so I think I would have beaten him, or at least that's what i am telling myself. Guess we'll never know who was quickest in race conditions.

Here's the majority of the crash;

Damage to the bike;
Fairings are completely destroyed - Luckily I have 2 spare sets.
Fairing bracket is finished - I have a spare
Brake lever - I have spares
And exhaust - i will need to buy a new one

Damage to me, a few scrapes and bumbs and I broke the fourth metacarple bone in my left hand. Luckily the Dr suggested a velcrow strapped splint and strapped two fingers together as i really didn't want to have a cast.

It's my own doing really. We found out that she's 7 weeks pregnant, it was planned, we were trying since last November and I said to her if she conceives I'd stop racing, but crahsing out was the icing on the cake for her.

So, i have a new adventure to look forward to. Thumbs Up Very Happy Instead of racing trophies, I get a fuck trophy Laughing Laughing

Excellent writeup! Great pics, bike looks sexy as fuck.....bummer about how it ended, but shit happens and it sounds like you're going to be pretty busy elsewhere in the near future.

Speaking of which. Congratulations dude! I'm sure you will make a thoroughly excellent dad. Plus, you can tell the next Marquez how his/her dad beat Rossi at Oulton Park.

Hey, parents lie, might as well start early and go big Very Happy

Trophy? Thinking I've heard it described as being kicked in the nuts by your nuts.
Congrats anyway. This won't be your last sacrifice.
