After reading a post on here about a poor guy who had his ZX-12R (i think?) fairings nicked while it was bolted up in his garage Evil or Very Mad wondered if anyone made security bolts that you could use on a fairing? not i own a bike that has expensive fairings, just wondering out of interest, kind of like these

I'm not sure, but tbh if someone really wants to knick anything off your bike they'll have it no matter what.

true, but its all about time, if something more than an allen key is required it may help, as it may take a would be thief longer to get it off (i mean the fairing!!) Laughing

Nah, just use standard Japanese, cross head, monkey metal set screws. Garaunteed to burr out to a perfect circle at the first sign of a screwdriver.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I remember some catalogue was selling exploding bolts.
Apparently if you turn them the correct way they blow out and rip your hand off. If you turn them the wrong way they come out.
Genius! No idea how they were legal but they were selling them.

How do you put them in then?? Confused

Does it mean that you have to get every thread on your bike retapped with a reverse pitch?

I remember them infact I got the catalogue here, it was motrax, there called 'ScrewPulls' (9.99 each) but cant see them on there website. They advertise them as exloding bolts, basically it looks like it just gives of a electric shock if you turn it round and the contacts meet.

Even if they were real, surely if you used a screw driver with a plastic handle you would be fine

Attach all your plastics using pop rivetts? It would take a matter of a few minutes to drill the heads off when you want to remove them again. Probably quicker than unscrewing the damned things.
