I'll make sure my hired Skoda Octavia for next week hasn't got a cat back then Laughing

I don't really 'do' noisy exhausts - it doesn't float my boat - but still, there's no-one in North Wales to hear them.

It's just a few nobs who spoil it for the rest of us. I don't mind loud exhausts but it's quite simple, in built up areas stay in a higher gear and low revs, be noisy in the middle of nowhere. There's 2 blokes in my street who have an R1 and an R6, they have the worlds tiniest GP style exhausts and before they set off on a ride they just pointlessly redline their bikes and the same afterwards when they come home. Oh and what does an R6 do in first gear? When he pulls out into the main 30mph road it's redline in 1st gear and then change to 2nd, every time with out fail. Hooligans like those give bikers a bad name.

Bet they weren't even wearing high vis and hadn't fitted leg guards!

75mph or so with stock gearing I'd expect.

Maybe they were hearing the echo carried over from our bikes heading over to the BCF BBQ?

In their own little way, yes.

I think they want to feel like big boys though, they probably think as my bike is slower than theirs, they will 'beat' me on a ride. Judging by the size of their chicken strips though (wider than Lisa Rileys arse) I would out run them on the corners. Either that or I pass them when they're getting their ticket for a loud exhaust Mr. Green

And this is why I don't go to Wales, they are strict as fuck on everything up there.

My dukes cans have been gutted and "loudified", my R1 had Toce brothers quad slash cuts, to say they were loud was an understatement.

LOUD CANS SAVE LIVES...your honour.

All that said, I'm respectful of people's houses. I wouldn't tear on through residential areas (wouldn't do that anyway) but I'm conscious of how loud my cans are.

There's loud or 'nice sounding' and bloody ridiculous, Here we are about ten miles from Helmsley-Stokesley and you can hear some bikes howling through there on a quiet evening with two big hills between.

In some ways the effect of very loud exhausts is far worse in rural areas than in town where the din is lost in other traffic noise and doesn't travel so far through buildings.

I dont like them, atleast not close - in the distance is quite nice. If some cunt is too noisy that I cant hear my own bike, and therefore change gear by engine sound they can have a ticket. Much prefer engine noise to exhaust.

Sound is directional, exhausts are rear facing, so your mostly just being a cunt.

Of course they do, but less ears will be offended when the population is less or the noisy bikes are further away from peoples houses.

The KTM is a bit of a loud beast, is bolt upright, is bright orange and has 2 ruddy great spot lamps up front and I can't say it's any different to the last bike which was none of those things, I'm terms of safety.

It is, however, a bloody antisocial thing when started up in the garage. Even letting it warm through to check the oil level is a bit of an assault on the ear drums.

You should go and explain to the people who live in the country that their subjective belief that they're being driven up the wall is incorrect because objectively they're statistically insignificant. They can't really argue with that logic.

Wish my neighbour would be. 5am he's warming up his bike for 5-10mins. I push my bike to the end of the alley, start it and immediately ride off.

i absolutely love the sound of a loud bike blasting along in the distance. dont mind loud bikes at all, only issues i have are with the crossers that ride near us that are crazy loud and because they are using green lanes etc it just causes unwanted attention and complaints.

Green laners...get quiet exhaust and get less hassle Smile

Regarding OP, just another easy way for plod to make money without doing much work.

I wouldn't want anybody to be pissed off with noisy zorsts, but pissing off 2 is better than pissing off 10 Razz

Technically yes, but bit of a grey area.

I'm sure Borg will get the exact bit of legislation for you, but the general jist is that you shouldn't modify your exhaust in any way to make it louder.

Problem is if you are one of the 'two' and are by a popular route the din can be almost continuous.
Furthermore it's not just the locals, in fact they are probably already deaf by now.
When you are walking up some remote mountain the experienced is somewhat spoiled by repeated intrusion of twattish "look at me" exhaust noise.

This is a very valid point.

There's a Sons of Anarchy wannabe over the road from me that brings his fag-mobile and tin hat out for parade every morning at 5am and proceeds to awaken the whole neighbourhood. Seriously - on what planet do you have to be to think that this sort of bike is a suitable commute tool for you to use in a densely built up area when your commute starts at a time where 90% of the population haven't even thought about getting up.
