Considering getting a green laner (road legal)

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding what would be a good choice?

I'm going for a pretty low budget (£1000 max) so something a bit tatty will do.

KTM EXC? 200, 300 etc.

Find any old manky enduro for 800-1000 and smash it through the lanes.

If it were me with that budget, I would just find the best example of an enduro bike as I could find, not narrowing it down to a particular make/model would be a lot easier unless you increase your budget.

I've seen rather tatty DRZ's go in the low 1k range, but you might get something like a TTR250, XR250/400 a bit easier.
