Bolded the bit that gets you tugged for de-baffling.

Bold and leaning over is the bit that was added in 1994 to try to distinguish between loud-but-legal aftermarket systems, and debafflers / speed-hole-drillers. Not that it stopped Scotplod from running a crusade against Subarus.

Only the other day I was thinking. Why don't we have motorcycle lanes?

Buses have 'em, the lycra brigade have 'em. Why are us motorcyclists discriminated against? Folded arms

In various places motorcycles can share the bus/cycle/taxi lane.

Expect people to turn left across your path.

They had a piece on the local news down 'ere about the amount of motorcyclist deaths, which was odd as they don't normally give a $hit. Anyhoo the reporter asked about segregated lanes for motorbikes Shocked

Bikers in North Wales have just been on the local news, basically as a warning to bikers coming here this Bank Holiday. They were filming at the Ponderosa Cafe and the Chief Constable gave his 'no need for speed' speech and a firm warning they're 'clamping down'. Apparently the Chief Constable is a biker himself and will be out and about patrolling on a bike. They used a clip from North Wales Police's YouTube showing a group of bikers being followed at over 100mph. Oh and apparently it's mostly men in their 40's and 50's that die in North Wales on a bike.

Hope you weren't planning to visit North Wales this Bank Holiday Laughing

I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I'm completely baffled why anyone would bother going to north Wales on a motorcycle. Why not go to the Dales, south Wales, Peaks, Lakes, heaps of lovely places where you won't be treated like a criminal. They can have my money instead.

It's actually really great around here, We do have a perception problem from the previous police constable who was famous for hating all motorists that ride or drive something not utilitarian, and we haven't got rid of that image yet. Brunstrom largely targeted the Conwy Valley in his pointless crusade against bikes, not the roads around the Ponderosa which are great for "making progress"

As for the lot that this is aimed at? Mid-life crisis, brand new sportsbike-of-the-moment, insanely loud pipes, and outcornered by a 125 on Cheng Shin tyres. The way they rag it without any skill whatsoever, they deserve something to make them think about it, they won't live to gain any skill. There's always some of them there at any given weekend in the summer.

I'll be out on my bike on Monday, I don't plan on riding especially slowly, I'm not the target audience.

i absolutely love the sound of a loud bike blasting along in the distance. dont mind loud bikes at all, only issues i have are with the crossers that ride near us that are crazy loud and because they are using green lanes etc it just causes unwanted attention and complaints.

Green laners...get quiet exhaust and get less hassle Smile

Regarding OP, just another easy way for plod to make money without doing much work.

I fucking love it, makes me grin every time I hear a proper loud exhaust tearing down the street where I live, even if it's 3am but I wouldn't do it myself.

I can't say I've found the Welsh police to be any worse than elsewhere. I've been done for speeding twice in Wales, but more than that in England. I found Essex police to be worse tbh. It seems to me that Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons regions are the riskiest areas for speeders; I've rarely seen any evidence of heavy-handed policing in the central part, and many of the best roads are there. Even on a weekend of a much publicised crack down on bikers in the Bala area (notorious?), I saw little indication of over zealous action.

My experience has also been that Welsh police were much pleasanter towards me as a motorcyclist than the intolerant attitudes of some Essex police. But then, our perceptions will always be coloured by personal experience I guess.

i like loud but not too loud.

my "micron" cans on the vtr when i got them had no baffles at all.. and i may aswell have run them with no cans at all, it was obnoxious, i could hear them over my music turned up full with earphones in, they now have baffles and db killers in.

guy i ride with has an rsv mille with a single exhaust, he blew a hole in it last week so took the can off and running just the downpipes to link pipe.. now that shit is stupidly loud! many complains on local town pages that we ride through
