You've gone about this completely the wrong way, and therefore you'll get jack all from me.

If you had have joined the forum and contributed normally to it before posting this nonsense, and also didn't use a ridiculous massive font, I might have considered otherwise, but as it is, it's a Thumbs Down from me.

Now, join in the forum in a normal respectful way, or leave. The choice is yours.

Not sure I agree. He has openly stated that he is just after information. Why should he pretend to be friends first before asking?

As long as he follows the usual protocols (asking site admin first?) and he isn't from Nigeria, I don't see the problem.

By and large the forum gets rained on with these kinds of surveys. This one is a month or two early I must admit, but it gets tiresome very quickly. I'm certainly more likely to assist an established member than I am someone who signed up just to effectively ask for something.

Freedom of speech in a US context refers to the ability for people to be able to say and print things without government interference. This is to prevent state censorship in a way used in Nazi Germany (hail Godwin's law) for example. It's not there to allow everyone to say anything they want. That said, it doesn't apply to this forum either, so meh.

Freedom of Speech.

Technically, no.

Korn's forum. Korn decides what can and can't be posted.

Mary Jay, please inform me what sort of contribution are you willing to see? The only way I can discuss a matter such as this with the BCF community is to directly come in touch with its members.

Mary Jay, I was also informed on another forum (MCN) that some BCF members can be merciless, I know the risk I have to take. You can throw any remark at me, for the past two days I've had people call me threatening my life, some saying that I should get the hell out of this country, and even my supervisor was informed by writing that us researchers are not welcome on certain message boards.

I meant join in, talk about bikes, post stuff. Not financially, but socially. Charity collectors who turn up on my doorstep get a short shrift, but if a friend asked me to help them with a charity I'd consider it.

I'd also like it if you got my name right. Evil or Very Mad

So what exactly are you expecting from posting your survey on BCF?

Have you taken the time to have a bit of a look around this forum to see how other survey spam threads from students end up?

This is true but i wasn't reffering to the US First Amendment, in general terms you can say what you want and be free from retaliation, predudice etc

The survey could be bullshit, and although it's Korn's site and Korn could choose to remove this guy if he wants, The guy can still post things surely

The vast majority of BCFers are based in the UK.

The only foreigners that join up, tend to be spammers.

The issue is that these 'surveys' are both pointless and dull. They'll never contribute to anything that will impinge on the real world. This one is better constructed than most, but it wants my flipping constituency - choose from a list of 650. Ain't nobody got time fo'.
