 |
|
I'm using gimp to change the colour of an image below I know someone could do it for me however I want to learn how to do it myself and can't find clear instructions online. I was just wondering could anyone be so kind to do step by step instructions. I've got a few more images I want to play around with to see. Hope someone can help me.

Why you no photoshop? Gimps far too restrictive and has a crap UI system IMO. Download Photoshop CS5 portable or any version, select area using magnetic lasso tool, copy and paste area to a new layer and then CTRL + U to play around with colours. I just did it in shorter time than it took to write this out (that's in Photoshop).

+1 on https://www.getpaint.net/ doing 90% of what you'll need most of the time, with plugins available to add another 9% or so like smudging.
Magic Wand select anywhere on the tank, then play with the tolerance slider to select as much as possible. Then zoom right in and use "Add (union)" mode and Lasso select to add manual areas, or "Subtract" mode to remove any unwanted bits.
Adjustment -> Hue/Saturation is probably what you want to recolour.
Here I was lazy and didn't quite get all the red in the selection. You can do better.

I use the magic wand select tool to select the area I want (Set it less sensitive and hold shift to select multiple areas).
I then copy the selection and paste it into a new layer and anchor it.
If you want the side panel too, do the same again and paste into an additional layer.
Make sure your new layers are transparent background.
Using layers, you can work on each part independantly.
Black is trickier than a hue change. I usually slelect the desaturate option to make it monochrome then fiddle with the cntrast and brightness to get a matt black.
Here's the 2 minute version with the not very careful selection of the tank. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
