Any idea if it is possible to copy TV onto a USB or a blank DVD disc?

The recipient of the disc/USB is old and does not know how to work the internet (so cant watch on demand stuff), but they do know how to put a DVD disc in so that would probably be the best option for them (unless the USB will automatically start playing the correct file) as soon as its plugged in.

iplayer make it very difficult, but there will be a way.
Recording live to a PC is relatively simple then you can do what you like with it.

This. Just download what you want and let someone else bother with the recording side.

My son has a cheap 21" Tesco own label Teknik TV.

You can plug a USB stick in and schedule a recording and it records to it.

Used it a few times, but as above probe easier to torrent.

Unless it's something non main stream, like when my dog was on Look North swimming past a sunken barge.
