Evening

I have a question for you lads, hope you can help me out.

Just got into the offroad world, startede out on a TT600S, and was a bit hard to handle. So got myself a DT 125 R from 1993, and to my surprise its frame number is 00000001. So its the first in line, and i was thinking how much can that be wurth fully restored to original?
What do you think?

Regards Nick

In my experience hardly anyone makes money in restoring a vehicle, especially back to factory standard, especially if you are trying not to replace parts to "keep it original"

I would sugggest if you want to do, then do it because it'll be cool and keep you happy not because you hope it wil make you money.

If I was going to restore a bike, it would be something like that as parts will be cheap, making it a slightly less waste of money than most restorations.

If it were an early LC you may be onto something, but even with that model ploughing money into a bike of this ilk to make a decent financial return is not usually recommended. To do it for the love of the work or the bike itself; go for it!
Just look at the RD's that people are getting giddy for; yes silly prices are asked for and paid, but the restored ones usually have more spent on them than is recouped come sale time. Pro's with access to the right tools and good relationships with parts suppliers (or a big stock pile themselves) can make a good living out of stuff like this with the right bikes, but shedmen working on one bike with questionable 'desirability'?
It's your life dude, but if you don't love working on bikes and it's just to make some duckets i'd be wary! Just keep her alive and enjoy blatting about on her!
