As above. She is keen, and always asks to go on 'her' mini moto in the garage (my dad bought it well over 10 years ago for absolutely no reason and it's never been started Laughing )

So, I've no idea how to get her riding something other than a push bike.

There's a couple of mx tracks locally, I'm guessing they could accommodate children. Other than that it would be finding somewhere in the countryside/forest (shouldn't be too hard to find somewhere secluded around the east coast of suffolk)

On to the bikes...

I originally see an electric oset bike which I liked the idea of. No noise so shouldn't be a problem riding around deserted tracks in the countryside. Then realised the price on the one for her age and started looking at alternatives.

Xtreme pro ride £375 delivered. Electric again. Again a bit more than I hopped but it is brand new. Quality likely to be poor. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232074620390

Xtreme crx 50cc. £250 delivered. Has 3 speed settings. Happy with that sort of price. Should be easy to maintain/repair. I like this option. Max speed a little over 20mph should be enough.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331950703423

The hondas/yamahas and the like although should offer a better package are also out of the price range I want to spend.

So how did you get yours started and what would you buy in the budget now to start them on?

I can see me accidently buying a dirty bike to add to my own stable Laughing

Most start out on our track on Yamaha PW 50s

Auto so can get balance sorted
There is a lot of copy's these are OK but have less power

A lot of kids worry and start with a small quad then get into two wheels later

We are lucky as we have a small track for kids and a lot of space to get lost in

All my kids just seemed to get into bikes without any encouragement. I guess it helps having them around bikes and bike related stuff.

Show her your bike things, let her put your helmet on, let her sit on your bikes etc. My eldest son has a pull start rev and go, it's only a cheap one but it makes a noise, it goes and smells of 2T, he loves it. When I get a bucket and sponge out to clean my bike, I get a bucket and sponge out for him too so he can wash his bike next to Daddy washing his.

Get her involved and make it fun for her. No harm in getting a pink bike and getting a sticker sheet with Peppa Pig (or whatever she's into) and putting them on the bike together.

PW50's are ideal as apart from the obvious they're shaft drive too so easy maintenance and less places for little fingers and feet to get caught.

My youngest daughter is 18 months and she loves bikes, out of her limited vocabulary, bike is one word she knows Mr. Green . She also goes brum brum and does a throttle movement with her hand and she's always asking to see and sit on the bikes Smile

Some (all?) Motocross tracks run kids days.
Some (all?) from absolute beginner stage.
Have a search around the web-sites of the ones in your area.

For off road, I'd start her with something like this:
https://www.washbrookfarmmx.co.uk/tryoutnew.php

You could also get her some kit and take the minimoto to a quiet industrial estate/car park on a Sunday.

From a slightly different angle, an electric kit for a push bike is not too far off and offers plenty of scope for both use and moving bits around to new bikes etc.

Why not take her to MCL and do the Honda My First Licence, they give the kid a little licence to keep at the end of it.

If that Wash Brook Farm thin was closer to the £50 mark i would have made the journey up. Cant find anything closer to home though.

Looks like the 2 closest MX tracks both have kids tracks.

I cant see anything about the My First Licence on the MCL website which is a shame. I found a 6 year old facebook link to it thought....There is a Kuberg experience to try out the electric kids bikes. Again though its a 6 hour round trip without traffic which will take most of the fun out of it.

Might go kit browsing with her tomorrow. I think i might be more excited than she is (and she loves the idea) Thinking

talk to local farmers even better if you know one or know someone who does

they will have harvested some fields by now and for about £20 let you use them to teach her to ride

as I said we are lucky as we have loads of space to use round the main track but a lot of other places just have a track and pits area

This electric trials bike would suit her right now, but she would grow out of it quite quickly, but like you said, the price.....

https://osetbikes.com/gb/bikes/2016-oset-bikes/oset-12-5-racing-24v/

This one better, as you can play on it too, but she'd have to grow into it.

https://osetbikes.com/gb/bikes/2016-oset-bikes/oset-20-0-eco/

They have dials, that adults have the key to so you can keep the power down, quiet so won't pee the neighbours off, and as they are trials bikes with tight turning circles you can have fun on them in even a modest back garden.

If you maybe buy a copy of TMX news on a Thursday, a weekly dirt bike paper, bit like MCN, and look in the small ads for some second hand ones?

I did have a look at these oset bikes. There is a 12.5 just down the road on ebay (250 reserve not met) but they are only up to 5 year olds. The 20 seems to demand over £1k.

How do you find the farmer of the land if there's no house Thinking
