OK, up a bit on last year, "adventure sport" down, but "trail/enduro" up, "supersports" down again, "nakeds" up.

A curious jump in 126-650 bikes, but 651+ down. Thinking

Huh, the top "adventure sport" is the Lexmoto Adrenaline 125. Laughing I guess R1200GS renters aren't in their PCP renewal phase, and the Africa Twin has peaked already.

Top 126-650 seller is the Ninja 636 with just 49 units, so I guess it must be a variety of sales rather than one big bang - and it's not the new SV650, sorry Suzuki.

Decent sales for the MT-10, no surprise there.

Honda claw their way to the top again, on the back of 125 sales. Yamaha won't be too upset about being a close 2nd.

Lexmoto third, then a big drop to Triumph and Kawasaki.

No shock that Suzuki is trailing along in 9th (but, but SV650 reviews!), but BMW, what happened? 10th? And a distant 10th at that.

Have they just stopped selling bikes until their Euro-4-bollocks models come out? Eh?

It seems to me that to be a high ranker in these tables, the brands need to have a very strong 125 cc presence.

125 sales are making up ca. 45% of monthly sales. Missing these numbers "looks bad".

I do wonder what the margins are in the sale of a low cost 125 learner machine though.

I, being a bit nerdy, would like to see a £:sale ratio. I suspect that despite the higher number of sales of some marques; Honda selling three times as many bikes as Kawasaki for instance, their profits won't mimic that.

Yup, Honda's big numbers won't necessarily translate to big profits.

That said, they are punting cheap Chinese made bikes out the door at £2600, compared to half that for an equivalent Lexmoto.

Yamaha don't have a cheap 125 to prop up their numbers, so presumably they're minting it.

I'm really interested in what happened to BMW last month. That's a huge drop, and it's not like they dumped massive numbers of pre-reg bikes in July either.

Yehbut, that extra cost they have in "quality assurance" ...

BMW? 3 year PCP deals up and too many 2nd user bikes because PCP punters have wondered off somewhere else?

Honda look to be getting worse and TBH their bikes are all creeping up in price quite a bit. VFR800X is £10,399, Africa Twin is £10,499, VFR1200X is £12,499 - They're not as bad as Triumph but with new prices going above £10k it's harder to justify.

Maybe I should just stop looking at 800+ cc bikes and look the other way...

Oh and well done El Borgo, F5 paid off for once Wink

I've replaced frantic fingering with a very small shell (well, VBS) script. Shhh!

Code:

URL = "http://www.mcia.co.uk/Uploads/Statistics/Press-Statistics-August-2016.pdf"
Set http = CreateObject("Microsoft.XmlHttp")

Do While True
    http.open "HEAD", URL, False
    http.send

    If http.status = 200 Then
MsgBox "Stats are up.", 0, "Go! Go! Go!"
        Exit Do
    End If

    WScript.Sleep 300000
Loop

I remember when I visited Spain I saw Rieju's and Derbi's everywhere. Italy had it's Vespa's. Interesting we do not have any low capacity British brands on the market that get near the numbers they do in Spain and Italy.

Would be nice if a British brand stopped importing mass made, different coloured Chinese bikes and actually made a low capacity British bike.

Are Rieujus and Derbis not re-branded Chinese bikes then? Before you opine, have you checked the VIN?

Why don't you email yourself when 200?

Then you don't have to check for the dialogue box, e.g. if you're out and about.
