Hey guys,
Been searching all over the place for a solution to this, after a fruitless couple hours spent trying to sort it myself.
My trouble is that the seat on my GPZ500S is stuck down. It has been like this for a few weeks now- I chucked my disc lock under my seat, and I think it then vibrated under the catch bar, stopping it from descending.
Well the other day I took a proper shot at it, managed to lever out the disc lock from underneath using a screwdriver, but the catch bar still doesn't seem to descend far enough to release the seat.
I also tried brute force and pulling the seat upwards flexing it in the centre, but it still didn't come free (and I'm also worried if I continued the seat would deform and the catch bar still might not work, so I wouldn't be able to put the seat back on).
I wish I could attach pictures but I was dealing with a gap thinner than my fingers!
Any help would be much appreciated!! |

From memory, you're probably looking at sore fingers, bending plastics way past the point it feels comfortable to do so and hours of fruitlessly fishing about with bits of bent fencing wire.
Horrible consumerist society suggestion, because life's too short. You can get a 1st gen GPZ500 saddle off ebay for £15 delivered. So snapping the seat base in half or getting medeivel on it's sorry arse with power tools is a viable option. How much time have you already spent? How much is your time worth? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
