Hi all,

I am unsure when I should use my indicators on module 1 practice test.
Do I need to use them at all?
If so when shall I do that?
On the eights? On the U turn? When I stop?

Any input will be of great value

No, I didn't. Indicators are used to send signals to other road users. Do your big obvious observations, verify that nobody else has sneaked onto the test pad, and that there's no need to indicate.

The IAM/RoSPA observers will actually give you a bollocking for indicating when there's nobody else to be seen. IMO, they're wrong about that (it's doubly important to signal to someone that you've failed to see), but it indica-... signa-... shows that the 'advanced' riding fraternity frowns on what they view as unnecessary indication.

Agreed. There was a weird looking guy pushing his little sausage fat face through the fence watching me during my test so my shoulder checks saved me from running him over as he chased me on the racebike (in his head at least).

Indicators, nah. Give the examiner a loud beep of the horn every time he stands next to you and is about to speak.. go on, bonus points for video.

You do not use indicators inside the Mod 1 test manoeuvring area.

You must use them before you enter the area. For example when you go to Mod 1 test your bike is parked somewhere outside. The instructors tells you to bring your bike inside. From the place where your bike is parked to the test area gate you must use the indicators if that is needed. For example from where your bike is parked you need to turn right to go to the gate, then you start your bike do right indicator, then turn right, turn off the indicator.

You drop your bike on the parking outside the test is over. Just saying...

Don't bother indicating when you move the bike to the gate.. It's pointless. You are in a parking bay, near the gate. Just a quick look around then ride to the gate.
