Compressor and accessories on offer at Lidl.

https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?id=947&ar=3

Now I've always fancied a compressor and some air tools for nut guns, spraying etc. Nothing too expensive as it will get used once in a blue moon. Is this even bordering on useful or am I wasting my time with it?

I bought a Lidl one, and I find it endlessly useful. Even if it were just for inflating tyres it would be well worth it, but I've used it for undoing stubborn nuts and bolts with the windy gun, I've used the blowgun to clear out spark plug holes and swarf from things, I've used the spray gun to paint my garage, and I've used the air wrench to do up and undo fasteners.

The thing I use the most is the tyre inflator though, as I do have three bikes and a car, plus the GF's bike.

The original Lidl one was stolen a few years back but it was pretty decent and did the job well. The replacement is better quality (SIP) but it does about the same job.

Pretty "meh" to be honest. Messy too.

You'd be better off buying a few decent flapper wheels for an angle grinder.

I have one and if I had anything that needed shotblasting, I'd take it to a shotblasters.

Even tried it to take paint off a wooden door. It just made a mess of grit and dust all over the fucking shop that was something else to clean up before I did the job with a heat gun.

Yeah to Meh for sandblasting.
The problem is not the finish and easy of use but the clean up after. The medium has to be kept dry too or it won't flow.

And you need some substantial PPE too.

Unless you mean a small 'booth/cabinet' type then best leave it to the commercial boys.

As is normal, Aldi are doing the same from Sunday, in pretty blue rather than grassy green!

Compressor details from Aldi's site but other than colour, they are identical....

So you're finally adopting the PC brigades SI units up there.

It's within the psi range to match the tools offered but only 24l capacity means you'll be waiting for it to recharge quite often if you've got a big job on with the windy gun. I've got similar, and it's fine for hobbyist.

Suits me, it won't be used that much but when I do need to undo some tough nuts or spray something it will be useful.

If your blasting engine parts, wheels or the like just buy a cheap wendy house or small tent, blast into that, it catches your medium and mess,

I built a cabinet into my new work bench, so I can spray or blast items without too much mess / over spray.

Don't bother with a 25l job, hang on until aldi do the 3hp 50l version. Pretty much the smallest you want to go.

The other concern is how much air can the pipework flow.

All the best

Only if he's allowed a hammer as well.
