A question for those whose bikes are chain driven - what's the highest number of miles you've notched up on a single chain?

17k on the 954 chain, 38k on the R1, but I suspect it's not on it's first chain.

About 18k miles on the blade with an auto-oiler device. Even with chain loob, you do have to degrease them once in a while and remove the gritty paste which causes wear between the pins and links (which causes the stretch & tight links).

That was with a Tsubaki X-ring type chain.

About 23k on a RK X ring chain. While I mantain my chains well my riding style and hamfistedness probably shorten life.

GSXR1000 still has the original chain the bike is on 12k and the chain is almost dead. That'll get replaced with an RK.

Moped belts I seem to shred in under 1500 miles Shocked

A DID x ring should last 25-35k. More if frequent oiling.

Looking at history the original was replaced at 13k with some cheap SSS rubbish and then 23k with a DID, which lasted until I changed it at 51k. And now at 75k = 24k miles, not showing much sign of wear except 4 stiff links.. Never gets cleaned other than a good coating of oil every morning to fling all the shit off.

I hasten to add, I was running renthal sprockets... Yep, they looked pretty hooked after that sorta mileage. Hence why I changed the chain. It didn't need attention or adjustment for 3-4 months when I had it oiled.

I accelerate hard, so as you can expect, it would probably have had a better life if I was more conservative with the throttle.

I've seen an OE standard chain on a CBR600 last 30k, legal speeds every day on the motorway in top not stressing it, the standard tyres (mcadams) lasted 20k too

my standard street triple chain was fucked out of its mind by 6k, poor maintenance did for it I just couldn't be asked, the replacement is a DID "gold & black" which hasn't needed adjusting in 6k miles, its had paraffin cleaning, WD40 all summer and silkolene chain lube recently

I've never worn one out.

My Bandit 1250 had 25,000 miles on the original chain and sprockets when I traded it in - and it they were nowhere near being worn.

I reckon that with a modicum of care 30k should be do-able on most bike chains.

35K + and it still had plenty of life on it.

The bike had a scotoiler and dual injector on it and a massive reservoir using used oil then the cheapest mineral oil.

It also over oiled as the chain always looked wet.

944cc Twin
Odometer reading 53,068 miles
Advisory notice item(s)

Drive chain slightly loose (6.2.1d)
Drive chain worn but not considered excessive (6.2.1e)

Haven't changed it yet.
Currently 37k.

The 250cc single would eat a heavy duty chain every 15k.

About 35,000 so far on the Fazer, but then I oil it several times a week now, and every time after a ride in the rain.

Did about 23k on my ZX6 stock chain. Managed that without hardly any cleaning or adjustment at all, somehow.

Next DID VX one managed 7k with regular cleaning before it was utterly knackered Brick Wall not quite sure what happened there.

Current ones done about 8k without any adjustment or problems however.
