I've seen a few threads lately about this so thought this may be of interest .

I follow this genius of a man as I'm learning the skill slowly .

Worth a watch .

I've never understood this whole the worlds strongest bike chain taken to extremes though.

Say I want your new fireblade and I have a van. Then if you lock it through the hole in the alloy swingarm, and I can't easily cut your lock with portable fast acting tools, I'll just get a cordless hacksaw tool and saw a chunk out of your soft aluminium swingarm and then push it into the van.

This assumes I want the bike for its value in parts, as who wants to steal a big superbike for an hours lols if there's proper money to be made with some effort in stripping and ebaying it all instead?

Superglue in the lock?

Also what are you bolting this to? Changes are whatever you've locked it to doesn't have a billion hardness rating.

As with chains and locks etc they are only a deterrent I'm sure if they have the time and effort they would , cut the lamppost , ground anchor , fence down , remove the garage door , roof or dig a massive tunnel or build telepoter .

Just thought it was a interesting test .

Tldw; grinds through it in about 30 sec, then declares it probably the toughest bike chain out there Sad

Was hoping this was going to be a motorcycle chain test being pulled apart (although it's the rollers that wear). Disappointed.

I almost tuned out of OPs vid when he said, "looking for the toughest stuff he could find ...this is a 12mm..."
Then stuck in and he said he's been working on the lock for a year and has not been able to pick it... whilst demonstrating inability to put the damn key in the lock.
That's one shitty lock if you can just drill out one screw, remove the plate/lock barrel too, Stanley really have gone down hill.

I feel your pain, on reading the thread title I assumed it would be a test of tensile strength like tethering a jet plane to a Pragmasis or something. Sad

A flounce is always better with a cape Laughing

I doubt bike theives have any interest in the subtle nuances of lock picking. If they had that in the bag there's better risk to reward ratio targets.

Brute force and ignorance is difficult to argue with. Add in fluoro jacket brazeness, and general public apathy and you get an idea of why bike crime is on the rise.

It's going to take a public hooha where some biker catches and kills/gets killed by the perps before anyone in public office is jolted into action.

Then it'll just become a crime reporting stat to fiddle to make it look like they're sorting it out.
