It's nice to see Triumph bringing out yet more bikes to just compete with themselves.

If they did a special edition with round headlights, they'd probably outsell themselves 2:1.

£7999 for the gold one, that's £500 for a paint job. Not as overly inflated as I thought it would be.

What's special about them? Is it just the paint job or am I missing something? Thinking

Triumph are celebrating the Street Triple's tenth birthday by creating the three brilliant special editions.

The bikes will all feature a special paint scheme in association with 8Ball paint shop, who will provide a livery specific to the Street Triple R Dark, Street Triple Gold and Grey models.

The bikes will be limited to 50 models of each scheme and will each feature the series number on the top of the tank.

The Dark features a design that is in line with previous Triumph Dark editions and will also feature a factory bellypan, flyscreen and cowl. All three will feature and Alcantara seast plus a Union Jack on either side of the tank.

The Gold and Grey versions will also feature colour-matched wheels.

The Street Triple R Dark will be available from October 1 and will retail at £8599. The Street Triple Gold and Grey models will be available mid-October for £7999. Contact your local Triumph dealer for more.

They look nice, but gold flatters many bikes, remember the mk1 Fazer S with the gold paint job, even that looked sexy in a way.

If Triumph want to seriously make the STR cult grow and the bike more revered as a classic sooner, they should sell a few high spec tuned special edition versions, and then end production while they are still selling like warm buns.

It would make interest and demand grow, and give it even more reputation. Im not so sure how good it would be for business though, but then I've never ran a company which might be a good thing? Laughing

Make one that doesn't whine and has titanium valves, change of cam profile moar compression etc.
Make it rev to 13,000 and make 120bhp.
Decat Arrow system.
Lighter wheels aluminium tank with extra 2 litres.
The dash 2 analog looking clocks calibrated.
2 round headlights both dip and main beams and almost illegally bright.
Tailtidy as standard.
Gilles, Brembo and Ohlins the fuck out of it.

C'mon Triumph be a bit more kawasaki of old.

Paint
Bellypan
Flyscreen
Seat Cowl
Seat is posher

Considering the prices of just the factory accessories, £500 is pretty reasonable......in that the tarty bits are unreasonably priced anyway Smile

Only the red one is STR. So the others have standard brakes + bouncy bits.

I already found the list of goodies. And I still think it's lame what Triumph did. I agree with Mr. Terror to a certain degree. They could have made a version of the motorcycle, that would be unique, rather than the paint job an some bits you may fit yourself, frankly.

It could be a bit better tuned, or even a higher displacement engine, from 675cc to 750cc, for instance, or just some fancier materials to get more rpm and power out of it, all that just to make it real special. Having only 150 motorcycles, the price could be even around £10k and people would still buy them like crazy. That would make a future classic, imho.

Hold on. You mean like the Jack Lilley khaki green ones that only the owners think are worth more? Can't you get it wrapped for less? I too might be missing the point of these.

One interesting fact though, I didn't realise the Street was £7500 ..

You're never going to make the return on investment by doing that. Remember Triumph just make motorbikes. Most other manufacturers have a car division, or are owned by a large car company meaning they can afford to have halo products. Triumph can't and has to make each bike pay for its self. They're going very well at it to be fair to them.

Does it annoy anyone else that the Red version has gold front calipers and the Gold version doesn't, it has black calipers.

Different calipers entirely as the red one is an R.

I completely agree with HT and RynoCZ, something more than cosmetics would be a proper limited edition, but as Wafer Thin Ham said, money innit.
That said, Suzuki shove a yoshi on, KTM the Akra's. Maybe Triumph could have upped the price a bit more and got the Arrow on there.

Maybe this also screams the end of the 675. Shove some lipstick on it and send the old girl out to turn a few more tricks before the new bike arrives.

That's my assumption. The 765 arrives next year, they'll be trying to shift the current stock by hook, crook or Union flag.

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MzAwWDQwMA==/z/RDYAAMXQuCdThW5F/$_35.JPG Question

Reminds me of Minis a bit. Lots of money for a paintjob and a few cheapish add ons. They should be fully loaded at least.
All the billet reservoirs, bar end mirrors, arrow pipes, quickshifters, LED indicators and all the other dear stuff too. Thumbs Up
I'll wait for a used one to come up in a year or two. But its got to be the TripleR.

That flag on the mirror cover somehow reminded me of the Spinal Tap:

jesus bollocks

it's their favourite trick to get rid of the poorest selling colours they have in stock

all the daytona 675 dark's started off scorched yellow, nobody bought them, not even dealers, so they shipped them off to 8-ball to be refinished

the lettering on the one I saw looked like DORK instead of Dark
