Hi All

Anybody work, or have worked for Deutsche Bank in IT?. I may be offered a role with them, and I was wondering if anybody here has had any experience of working for them?

Cheers

Tony

Try checking out the Glassdoor website. Although it may not have specific information for the IT department, it'll have plenty of reviews from current and former employees for working for the business in general. I hope that helps.

On the whole, I've found the reviews for past employers pretty accurate!

I'd be concerned that any career with Deutsche Bank would be fairly brief. Googled them recently? They're too big to fail, but they may be too big to save.

I bumped into a guy in Kiev who worked for Deutsche Bank. He seemed nice. He was a project manager for a software project that was outsourced to Ukraine. He told me a bit about the problems of outsourcing there etc etc, but overall he seemed pretty happy and I think they paid quite well from what I can tell.

Well, I don't think that would be pertinent to say, other than it would be Birmingham based

Fair enough, it's probably not pertinent to say what I know, although being Birmingham based is probably a plus...

While Germany may be prepared to bail them out... Just how will the EU feel about it.

Financially speaking, Germany is the EU. Without Germoney, the EU can't bribe the Easterlings to stay in, and the wheels would rapidly come off der wagon. Poland in particular has become hugely dependent on Germoney - a financial crash in the EU could see Emperor Putin cosying up and offering them a likkle sumtin-sumtin, just to tide them over, like.

We've poked the bear, but I wonder how big our stick is.

The only experience I have of DB is interviewing a chap who apparently worked in some capacity as a software dev for them for two years.

I don't remember much about the fellow other than that he was absolutely mind bendingly useless. The impression was that he had very good social skills, but couldn't code his way out of a paper bag.

We're talking 'what is the terminal' here.

The big German companies have a history of helping each other out when one has a problem.
A number of the big service providers (Banks/Insurance etc) have had problems and ended up with their main shareholders being their own clients (Chemical /Petro /Shipping /Steel /Pharma etc) and there's even a fair chance the regional banks will offer some support as well.
Obviously this isn't obligatory and may never happen again, but I'd be surprised.
However the embarrassment of the board at the company being helped then forces them to make some hard business decisions and the company could have a major re-shuffle with outsourcing and units being sold off...
