Can anyone help me, i need to connect some new downpipes to the exsisting cans of a 1996 XJ600s diversion and i thought it would be simple but it seems not. from the attached picture i need to get parts "10" and "11", can anyone identify them and where i could get them from?

think 11 is a silencer gasket

Cheers
WN

Yamaha probably call them exhaust gaskets or seals - it'd be best to replace the one on the other side (#5) as well if you're having it apart. You'll only need to replace the clamp if you have to butcher it to get it off unless Yam sell them as a set - seal and clamp together.

You'll also need to replace the gaskets at the cylinder head (#13) so buy four of those as well. Any Yam dealer worth his salt should have all the parts in stock.

Hi

One looks like a clamp which should be easy to get from somewhere like M&P. The other bit looks like a gasket which might well be like the one on the FZR600. In this case it is a short tube made out of, for want of a better description, wire wool. They can be reused a few times, but the FZR one is quite expensive for what it is.

All the best

Keith

From the Yamaha America site, these parts are for the XJ600SH Seca which I believe is the same model but I may be wrong

Part no. 5 - 3VD-14755-00-00 GASKET, SILENCER 2 off

Part no. 13 - 4BR-14613-00-00 GASKET, EXHAUST PIPE 4 off

tonight before it got dark i took the end can off and now i can see a problem. the end can has a overlip thats welded to the endcan See diagram. on mine this is completely gone though rust, apart from a little stump. so i plan to patch it up with an exhaust bandage at the join, for now. then find someone who is handy with a welder to weld on this overhang buy using a larger diameter aluminum pipe that can be compressed by a exhaust clamp onto a gasket.
Has anyone got any suggestions for this plan? and does anyone know anyone that is handy with a welder in the south east of england,
cheers
Mike

Don't think you can weld aluminium to steel. A steel repair section should be fine.

All the best
