I have a kymco zing darkside 125cc 2013 I got it for free as it ran very badly and the body work is very bad but I have been thinking about putting a new/bigger engine on it was thinking something like a 300cc and new body work but it's hard to find parts you really need so I was thinking about combining the body work with a Suzuki marauder 125 as the body work is quit similar but am really wondering is how would the 125 frame couple with a 300cc engine? What do you guys think?

Anyway, I was checking the market and after awhile, although the engine does look like a GZ 125, I would just sell it for parts and get something else. Also, do you want it to be a road legal motorcycle, or you just want to have some fun building it and then sell it? If the latter, then if you can do metal work, you can fit anything in that frame.

Also, why are they so expensive?

Is this supposed to be your first project of this sort? If so, then I say sell it now and buy something a bit more popular. You could have a plenty of fun bastardizing a CG 125, that you will actually find parts for, all over the UK.

Scrap it; save yourself and the next potential buyer of your unfinished 'only needs a small electrical fault fixed then it's good as new first to see will buy' project the heartache and wasted effort.

Take all the 'bodywork' off, get a torch and have a real up close look at the quality of the metalwork that the frame is made from. Look at the welds, and look at the joins between sections of frame. Now imagine 100% more power than the stock motor can produce, in that frame with your arse on it. Put the 'bodywork' back on and take some pictures for Gumtree.

If you want to practise your tool skillz, then strip it and rebuild it again. If you want a fast(er) bike then stop now. Even if you were successful at transplanting an engine, it still won't be as quick or handle as well as say, a 250 Superdream. The Magna Teflon approacheth...

Thanks for the advice troops I thought it was a good idea but I thought i should get some advice on it. I know theres alot of work to be done to it to make parts fit but I always have the weekends to my self which will give me something to do. And i don't want to make it faster just to improve the driving experiences because with it being such a heavy bike the 125 engine seems a little week.
And also if it turned out okay and the drive was good I thought I would make a little more than the bikes worth. Thanks any way

if you got it for free, set yourself a budget, £100 or so

see if you can just get it running betterer and ride it about a bit
