Mate just had her bike stolen, in front of her, in Chiswick. (At 18:10.) Waiting for the police to arrive.
Black Street Triple with red flashing.
Reg: HN13 FYR.
Please keep eyes peeled if you’re in that area. No other details at present.

Edited to link pic.

In front of her? As in she was there when they took it?

Seems to be the season at the moment. Sorry to hear this.

I don't know anything more yet. She did a very brief Facebook post with her reg number, while waiting for the police. I don't know if she's hurt or what happened. Sad

Sorry to hear this.

It's probably too late now, but if she'd left the keys in it, even for a few seconds, I'd think long and hard before admitting that to the rozzers and especially to the insurance.

Hope it goes well.

They are easy to ride fast, lowish to the ground, lightweight so easy to push along with a scooter or lift into a van,
older ones have awful security as in none. That's why the little bastards like 'em, and it's partially why I decided against
buying one myself.

There's been one sat in the garage at work for ages and I really do like the look of them. I was really lusting after one until I read the two stories of people getting them hoiked from right under their noses and now I'm not so sure. London really is shit for bikers.

But how do they steal them from "right under their noses" or "in front of them" ??

Dunno exactly what happened here in this thread but I suspect the bike was snatched at the lights or similar
after they spotted a female rider on it.

One guy got lumped over the head as he unlocked his garage, they took it while he was on the deck after slamming the
garage door on him for good measure while he lay on the floor.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=316009&highlight=

Then there's the other bloke who was rushed at the front door by smackheads who tied him up at knifepoint,
ransacked his house and facked off on his bike afterward.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=4364273&highlight=#4364273

Then there's the other guy who caught them just as they got his bike into a van and managed to twat the van
with his bat as it drove away.

All this week

Why, yes, I've taken to chopping wood in bed.

Glasgow doesn't seem too bad for bike thefts, but I'm still paranoid about pikey vans doing the rounds looking for "scrap", or Trackies McNed hanging around at lights. I've ridden though a few reds out of an abundance of caution. Road Warrior rules.

Then really not much you can do, especially a lady. It isn't worth your life and the scum nowadays seem more likely to carry weapons. If you smash the bastards with a baseball bat you are more likely to be arrested than they are.

I'm really starting to approve of the American way....

Irrelevant but I think that's Asia (they're speaking Thai).
