My misses had some damage done to her car by some little cunt on a school bus trowing something out of the window.

she when into the school but the head said their was nothing they could do about it because it happened outside of school and the school aren't responsibly of them once they had left the school grounds.

Is this correct, I was under the impression that schools where responsible for kids until they go home?

How could they be? If someone left work and threw something at you off a bus would you go to their place of work to complain?

Better off going to the bus operator.

tried that, apparently there not responsible either.

there's a bit of a difference between some randomer throwing something off a random service bus and a child in school uniform throwing something from a school provided bus.

Get your wife to do a full-on sad-face story for your local paper, including pic of her pointing tragically at the damage.

Naming and shaming both the school and bus company.

May not get her any compo but much satisfaction.

Risk of the job and something I'd take into consideration if I went into teaching.

A bit like if your 1.5 hour commute gives you some sort of chronic illness. It might have been an absolute necessity to take the job, but that's business. Get swole.

I think he's asking if any teachers know school protocol for this kind of thing, not that his wife is a teacher.

Completely misread the original post. Sleep is a useful thing to do. oops.

In that case I'd go after the parents. Not that anything will happen, as they'll likely be just as if not more feral.

Will they release it to you? (Spoiler: no).

Po-po need to be involved. Criminal damage.

They won't touch it with a bargepole.

Sadface to paper for justice/lols.

I'm fully aware of that but without CCTV on the bus it's not worth involving the popo as there will be no evidence. If CCTV exists, report it.

So the bus company refuses responsibility, the school refuses responsibility and the parents will no doubt refuse responsibility
even though it's the wayward product of their fetid loins. Can you see a pattern here? With nowhere for the buck to stop it's
no wonder these kids do what they fucking like. You've got no hope and Bob Hope of getting any sort of recompense.
Go to the supermarket and accidently ram a pushchair broadside hard with your trolley. It won't fix the car but will
make you feel better.

We were always told as kids that if we were in uniform we still represented the school
If we got caught doing somthing on the way home and reported we got punished at school

The good old days. When there was a caning on offer for being caught the reward had to outweigh the risk tenfold.

Po-po where involved but surprisingly thay have been next to useless.

No cctv not interested, they also told my misses that even with cctv showing them throwing things from the window they wouldn't be able to do anything as it would prove they were deliberately aim for the car

If the bus provider has CCTV of what is a criminal act then aren't they required for the copy to be turned over to either you or plod?

I seem to remember that a school is responsible for its pupils not only when they are at school but during the hours of travelling as well.
This may require a question to the Department of Education or whatever they are called these days to confirm.

The department expects each school to promote appropriate standards of behaviour by pupils on their journey to and from school through rewarding positive behaviour and using sanctions to address poor behaviour. The EIA 2006 empowers headteachers to take action to address unacceptable behaviour even when this takes place outside the school premises and when pupils are not under the legal control of the school, but when it is reasonable to do so. In the department’s view, this would include behaviour on school buses, or otherwise on the route to and from school, whether or not the pupils are in school uniform.

Read there, it's part of the Education & Inspections Act 2006. Read the wording though - empowers them to, does not state they must.

Indeed, apparently we were in uniform travelling to the school and as such were representing the school to some degree. Told to not fuck around/ended up fucking around. Laughing

Bus drivers job is to control the bus, not the passengers.

No.

It allows them to. Plod can seize it. Conceivably they could be done for obstructing a rozzer if they refuse to hand it over. But nothing compels them to hand it to the victim.
