Good result for insurance........17, NSR 125............

Hey,

Just got off the phone to Motorcycle direct. I am 17 yrs old, never had a motorbike before. Was insuring a 2000 Honda NSR125R. It was my first phone call and they quoted me £234!. I was expecting a lot higher. One thing I did notice was that when my mate went with MD it actually said AXA insurance on his certificate, so maybe it might be cheaper giving them a ring and doing it direct? I don't know, suppose its worth a try. I'd definitely try and give them a call if your young and are getting ridiculous insurance quotes.

This was for Third Party Only and Breakdown cover as long as it is not within a mile of your home.

That sounds very good. Cost me £200 to insure my KH100 at 17. Did you ask what third party fire+theft cover was?

No not yet. To be honest I don't plan on having anything happen to my bike (although I suppose no-one does!), and if it does then I would be screwed anyway. At 17 you try to avoid claming anyway, so I may as well go for Third Party Only. Plus I can't really afford too much as I am on a pretty tight budget.

That does sound good.

I was paying about £150 more than you I think!
It may still be worth ringing around to see if you can get a better deal. Check that it includes legal cover - you will need it if you are involved in an accident.

Rang round a few other insurance companies and no-one can beat it. I'm quite chuffed with that.

Axa also sell insurance direct as you may remember ste (the 306 was covered by axa). I don't know if they sell bike insurance direct though.

They don't, I tried the very same thing when I had my NSR as that was insured by AXA through CIA. Laughing
