I'm stuck in a loop of "old" music and starting to get a bit bored.
my tastes are guitar driven.
Nirvana, Greenday, Pearl jam etc. newest thing i listen to is Paulo Nutini, a bit of Ed Sheeran in small doses. I try the spottify radio thingy bit it doesn't really deliver. what newer stuff is worth a listen?

Try Jonah Matranga. He's amazing. Been on the scene for decades in several bands - Far, Onelinedawing, New End Original and Gratitude. But solo he does things from all four (and more) and it's usually just him and his acoustic guitar.

Closure in Moscow are alright.

Not new, but still pretty good:

Seafood
Broken Social Scene
Early Biffy Clyro (first three, maybe four albums)
Oceansize
Death Cab for Cutie
Texas is the Reason
Rival Schools

And super new, which I haven't listened to yet, but am about to:

Dead Heavens

I suspect I'll like them as I like all the bands the members have been in.

If you like your rock with a bit of southern/country in it then Blackberry Smoke are well worth having a listen to.

If you like Paulo Nutinis latest, try Joseph Kiwanuka Love and Hate

Or for an influence of many of the bands you mention try Can

Left field try Pucifer's V is for Vagina

And if you like Pearl Jam the Days of the New albums don't have any names, but the Green one is the best Followed by the Yellow one.

There is very little "new" music, the vast majority is just poor rehashes of older stuff!

Go back, listen to some Howling Wolf, Big Bill Broonzy, or similar, and discover for yourself how most "new" music is really just a case of "the emperors new clothes"!

The Wildhearts.

/thread

Once you've done their catalogue* try Ginger, Silver Ginger 5, Ginger Wildheart and, to be current, Hey!Hello!

*You may wish to avoid "Endless, Nameless" until you've literally listened to everything else GW has ever committed to CD/Vinyl.

For rock I have been listening to Skillet, they are OK.

The Temperance movement were one of the highlights at Download this year for me.

Southern rock.... Monster Truck and Blackberry smoke.

Monster Trucks first album was better I thought.

Ginger from the Wildhearts tried his luck with my Mrs once, inviting her onto his tour bus.
Unfortunately (for him) he was refused entry Laughing

I've really gotten into Royal Blood and Jack Garrett this year, neither ordinarily being my usual cuppa.
