I like to keep my options open, so I was wondering what your favourite TV shows (which are still on or have recently ended) are.

For me, in no particular order, it's:

Game of Thrones - I love the numerous ongoing plots, the characters, the twists and turns and the immersive setting.

Black Sails - I love pirates. Some of the acting is a little corny, but the characters themselves are great. I love how they've woven historial and fictional characters and events together.

Walking Dead - The best show I'm never in a rush to watch. Still haven't started Season 6. I love the show, but I don't get worked up to watch it for some reason.

Breaking Bad - Needs no introduction.

House of Cards - Still watching Season 4. I don't understand American politics, but I don't feel overwhelmed by the backdrop. The characters are great and, for me, it's more about their journey through it.

Luther - The only problem with Luther is that the seasons are too short. BBC nailed a detective show which appeals to a younger audience (as opposed to, say, Midsomer Murders and Taggart). Luther himself is fantastic.

Still need to watch:

True Detective
Man on High Castle
Billions
Power
Luke Cage

Any more that I should add to the list?
I've watched most of the Marvel and DC series and they're alright, but I don't feel compelled to go back for more. I'm about three episodes away from the end of Daredevil, but I don't care to finish it. Didn't like Jessica Jones at all. I watched Flash and Arrow for a few seasons, but grew bored of both.

I don't get this box set culture, it's so dull.

That said, girlfriend seems to be into gossip girl at the moment, whatever that is......

I've just finished watching "Victoria" on ITV.
It was lovely.
Probably not all that realistic, but very lovely to watch.

I had started about 2 years ago to get interested in her, as I read a book about one of her sons who had haemophilia, and the Queen herself was only a "minor" character in the book ... so this was especially interesting to me.

I expect everybody else is watching Poldark, but I started with Victoria so I will have to catch up on Poldark, I can't say it really appeals as much.

Over the moon that there will be more than one series, although unlikely to see the very lovely Jenna Coleman all the way through, due to the age the Queen gets to.

Bloody complicated time with all th ose Germans coming and going, though. It will take me ages to get the hang of who is related to who - I've already had to search Wikipedia for most of the main characters, as I didn't do history at school.

I might possibly cry when Albert dies (not for a few series yet, hopefully).

While new shows are being discussed on that thread, the subject would very reasonably suggest it excludes recent shows, as it's talking about box sets, which only come out at the end of a season or later.

Latest Arrow/Flash/Legends - got a bit bored of these, but something to watch. Ditto for Simpsons/Family Guy.

Westworld started off 'a bit bored' too, actually.

MacGyver isn't up to the original, but a lot closer than Westworld manages.

Stan Lee's Lucky Man has been out for a while, but I think is worth a watch for being a bit different and more gritty-british.

Don't know why I never included Narcos. I loved it.
Stranger Things was... Okay. But I've never been a horror fan.

Luke Cage is on the list. Just finished House of Cards, which is amazing (except season 3, which was awful) do my evenings just gained another two hours each.

Oh, forgot Lethal weapon - another 'watchable'.

Timeless, saw the first episode of last night - I tend to have pretty low standards as will generally be doing something else at the time anyway. This I don't think was really worth it even if concentrating on something else. Staid time travel cliches, wooden acting and so on.

Also ruined Star Trek and Star Wars.

Though; I'm a massive fan of Firefly, but actually found avengers a bit underwhelming due to high expectations. Good, but not totally amazing.
And Agents of Shield very much so - but Whedon was only involved in the first episode I believe.

Power is decent, first season is great.

Luke Cake is quite boring, never actually finished watching it.

You definitely need to watch True Detective a watch, also, Fargo.

From what I remember I have watched...

Lost, Dexter, Prison Break, Day Break, The Shield, Fringe, X-files, Da Vincis Demons, True Detective, Black Sails, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Narcos, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mr Robot, Westworld, Shannara Chronicles, Sons of Anarchy, 24, Oz, House of Cards, Stranger Things, Hannibal, Vikings, Enter The Badlands, Heroes, Orange is the new Black, Better Call Saul, Homeland, Peaky Blinders, Marco Polo.

I'm sure there's a few that I've forgotten but that's over a 10 year period there abouts.

Lost was one of my favourite shows when it came out, the first 3 seasons were amazing, always wondering what was going on and not being able to second guess it, reminds me a lot of West World and having more questions every episode that finishes. I just hope it doesn't end up like Lost and go to a pile of shit for the last few seasons.

I would have said Sopranos was the best show I ever saw and I've seen it twice through... but then I re-watched Breaking Bad again at the start of the year and nothing comes close to how good that show was.

Boardwalk empire was up there too, as I love gangster flicks, same writers from Sopranos and Scorsese as well.

Recently though, Black Sails is up there with one of the best shows still running for me. Completely underrated, the show is not just some shallow pirate fest, the writing is fucking superb and the big budget / vfx are brilliant. Like I said about the show, you really get drawn in by the lead characters.

The worst of that bunch has to be Shannara Chronicles... don't even bother with it. Shame though as it's Terry Brooks and he wrote tonnes of books which are like Lord of the Rings... imagine a fantasy epic to replace GoT that's like LoR! Well he fucking sold out and it's the worst shit you will ever see.

Felt it had potential, but badly executed from the start with what seemed to be a limited budget that was pushed towards.visuals over story telling.

Still reckon it is less annoying than lost! Razz
