As the weather has now become decidedly autumnal, the few people I know who ride are talking of putting their bikes away for the winter.
As I have to commute on mine this is not an option and I will continue to do so in all conditions without without a problem.....

At the weekends tho, I will have to ride alone....I need a Rain-Pal.
(And possibly a Snow-pal)

Anyone else?

My wife gets first dibs on the car, so I've got little choice. It's been alright so far (although we're far from actual Winter) but I've a shopping list of Wintery goods to stock up on every payday.

If you asking my if I'll commute,on my bike, then no, I don't do it in summer so not starting for winter.

No room for a wife and child, with their associate daily stuff, not to mention I'm at work by the time I've got my bike out.

Interestingly (or not) it is within the last two months that I have seen more and more bikers on the commute.

I know a few of these summer warriors and as soon as it hits October, bikes go away and not seen again until May. I've never done that, if there's a decent day, the bike comes out.

Always been an all year rider, usually aiming for the nicer days but now I have no choice but to do a 1-hour each way commute through Yorkshire countryside every weekday.

Doesn't bother me as such, I just know there'll be one or two not very nice journeys. Specially as the route I do won't exactly the be the first place considered for grit on icy days.

Not only will the mighty eggcup be used for 50 mile daily commute throughtout the winter, the only muff I'll be sticking anything in will be Mrs Nobby's...

I don't have any commute to do, so the bikes are just for fun, but I'll keep them OTR all winter for those odd nice days you get now and again. They're getting less use all year now as other hobbies compete though. I can't be bothered with short trips on them most of the time, so has to be a decent day's ride out if they're to be ridden at all.

Only show stopper for me and my biker bois is ice. It's a bastirt. It ruins the handling so you have to tippee toe around like a Jessie.

Rain, hail, snow, Arctic/Antarctic conditions or sun no problemo.

But we're mental we are.

I ride all year round but still hate winter. Hoping it's a mild one.

I used to commute on my bike all year round. Fucking grim. Fog was the worst. Sucked the heat out of me.

My car has heated armchairs, wall to wall awesome music and gets me to work almost as fast as the my bike can.

I'll use the bike over the winter but I'll save it for sunny weekends and Mrs angryjonny will be sat behind me.

Best morning ride I've done in fog was below zero. The fog froze to me, I was covered in frost by the end of it.

I find that adverse weather conditions make a commute more of an adventure, but I'm there within half an hour so not long enough to freeze. Having said that, I wouldn't go out for fun in wind and rain..

I knew it was really bad when the rain running over the tank and pooling at my crotch made it through both sets of waterproofs and soaked into my jeans. In most conditions 2 seats of waterproofs was enough.

Me fella's just taken the GSX for an MOT, so I hope there will still be some nice days to ride it before the snow sets in.

He's also found a little GPZ500 which I plan to bang around on, if he can get the exhaust to behave itself ( Laughing not that I care if it doesn't, I like noisy bikes Laughing )

Might actually get round to MOT'ing the Snarley again soon, too ... Shocked

mine won`t move much ; if at all ; until mot. time in the spring..

Salt just wrecks bikes and below 10°C is just a pain...

you winter warriors can just get on with it ... Laughing

Still commuting at the moment, but can't see it happening for many more weeks. It'll be the most I've used bike in a few years. 1100 is now in bits so using 400 which isn't ideal for commuting. Once the mornings get cold I'll be back in the car, I'm not one of these BCF autists that think riding all year round is a badge of honour.

Will continue to ride through the winter. Luckily my commute is on a main route so if icy it will bave been gritted and driven over by early morning cagers.

If it`s cold and wet/ice/snow = f*ck that shit, I`ll take the car.

I`m jinxed anyway, every time I take my bike out of the garage, the weather always turns to pants, even in the summer Mad
At least in the summer I only get wet.
Sod riding in the winter and getting cold and wet.

When I was a young puppy, I went everywhere on the bike as it was my only form of transport, come rain or shine , hail or snow.
Been there done that and it was crap then and still is today.
