Anyway; I was thinking about stuff in this area after talking with the owner of No Limits (biggest UK bike trackday company) about forum discounts and so on (sadly not for BCF; in fact the opposite - that he had stopped offering them elsewhere.)

Quite a lot of possible options - such as a section in the profile with a barcode etc.

Of course, it's not hard to fake a user screen, if we're talking needing a higher post count or whatever. (Just fake a user that has the higher count.)

If you wanted it to be 'opt in', possible we could have a separate group setup which you could manage.

I don't see the phone thing to be a big issue - we could always offer a '£10 lifetime membership option'... which gets you a £10 android phone from ebay .

All you need to do is show your a member of BCF to our sales team. If you are happy with that I will brief them all.

I will work on a "clubcard" for future purchases. I think that might be the best way.

A 'club card' style system could well work nicely for you as a business. That way you can ask people to PM you from here, so you can see only longer term members get it. Also, you get people to give what's a very valuable commodity these days - their personal data (address etc).

On that; that's a nice idea for an app actually. You can then spam people and so on with little cost to you and keep control of who gets what discount.
