I run an old wireless mouse that isn't too wonderful on the battery life (about 2 months). I don't want to change it, so use these rechargeables :-

https://www.usbcell.com/prodimages/large/Moixa-Energy---USBCELL-Open.jpg

The fact that they are self contained pleases me.

What gadget/doodad/tool/widget type thing gives you a woody? Doesn't have to be techstuff, I have a soft spot for my P-38 can opener and Trangia, too.

I got given one of these as a little present and it's excellent.

Sits in my wallet until needed. It's as thick as a credit card and can get you out of a spot of bother.

On my computer, I have a Logitech G13, an G710+ and a G600.
For games, it makes life so much easier having programmable keys mapped to where your hands sit.
For work, which involves a lot of select-all, copy, alt-tab, paste it's handy to have them mapped to the keys, so I don't have to do a finger dance from CTRL-A, CTRL-C, Alt-Tab, CTRL-V all the time.

And let's not forget the PS Vita, so I can ignore my family even on the go![/img]

Don't get me started on the topic of tin openers!
When I went to Uni, quarter of a century ago, they had 'just' invented the "Magi-Can".. My Grandad, when I departed gave me a 'care package'. It contained a large jar of Nescafe, and a large mug to make it in. {he knew me well!} And a Magi-Can opener... joking I'd need it for the baked beans I'd be living on, and more seriously, repeating all the sales pitch the brolly-dolly he'd spent however long flirting with had given him, while my Gran did the shopping! Insisting, though, that they DID work.
And I have to confess, it WAS a good tin-opener.
Unfortunately bachelor life ended & the ex's idea of culinary sophistication was chicken chasseur packet sauce! And the magi-can expired very quickly when she 'forgot' which way to open a tin!
Many many tin openers have caused much consternation since, and I have never found a decent one....
Until christmas, when I spotted a 'genuine' Magi-Can like the one Pops gave me when I went to Uni... unfortunately I didn't spot the brolly-dolly, though she'd probably be a bit like the ex's chickenchasseur by now, I suspect, so I probably didn't miss a lot.
But I suspect subject to a 'Value Engineering' exercise and outsourced to chinese sweat shop; it's absolutely utter crap! damn thing doesn't even have the pressure to pierce the ruddy TIN. I was trying to scrape tomato pure out of a rather dented, half lidless, can, last night..

SO, I shall offer as my 'favourite' gadget, the trusty old Victorinox Swiss Army pen-knife!!!

Takes twenty minutes to find the tin opener blade, BUT, at least it opens the damn can!

Quite useful for opening parcels, cutting nails, getting splinters out of kids, (as long as they put the tweezers back in the handle!} and cutting batches to make burgers on a disposable BBQ on the beach, among many other uses, too!

Rather prosaic but I was staying at one my lads houses up norf
and whilst cooking up some grub was impressed by their knives.
Proper high carbon/quality things not like the cheap shite SS ones I have that I constantly have to sharpen

It reminded me how good a proper tool feels in the hand

Stop that sniggering in the back !!

As for my favourite gadget? Hard to say, probabally my knife and fork penknife (like a swiss army knife, but with a knife, fork, spoon and bottle opener)

OBD2 bluetooth elm reader from Amazon...cost less than £10 and with the TORQUE app ( paid or free) its been a god send when diagnosing engine management faults on various cars..mazda,volvo,ford,Vauxhall, peugeot, etc etc only really reads the basic faults but allows monitoring of sensors so you can plug and play with them to determine which bit is faulty......

for example...old guy new VW polo..wouldnt start on cold days. VW charge £100 a go to do diagnostics on it 3 times!!! yup it should be done under warranty eh! No problem..no fault sir. stick on that little box and it tells me engine temp is 25'c when its 5 degrees outside??

temp sender failure hence no rich mixture when trying to start, fit new part job done.

just little things like that can save a fortune and it clears faults a treat for what it is as well as looks up the code for you when you tell it what car its looking at.

apart from that..usual victorinox and leatherman multi tools and modern cree style led torches that are just silly good compared to torches when I was a kid! I have better lights on my push bike now than many motorcycles I rode as a yoof 30 years ago Shocked Shocked

My Indian metal cut throat razors that take disposeable blades. Damn near free to use, good solid weight.

My old Chinese phone that needs the battery taken out to charge, but pukker as a dictionary for chineseyness.

And last but definitely not least, this veggie slice. Pisses all over a grater, and it is made out of ridiculously sharp stuff. Taken a few lumps out of my hand, but works just as well for ginger and potato as it does for pappaya.

I've got a number of hand planes but my favourite is an old Stanley 4 1/2. With a freshly honed cutting iron and a bit of fettling it is a joy to use. Quite weighty, so it just slides across the surface taking shavings so thin and translucent they don't even look like wood.

You should really call her your 'Wife' or 'Girlfriend' (as appropriate) or even by her real name... Laughing

But I guess this does show how passionate you are about toasties...

I've always pondered how accurate these apps are.

Do they take into account the raised area on the back of the phone where the camera is or the sides where the buttons are?

Assuming the back and sides aren't flush of course.

I love my elec under blanket! Unless it's boiling hot, I pretty much use it all year round. Pre heat and turn it off when I get in. Lush. Really helps me sleep. That and Valium.

Only when I want to impress the Thai bitches.

I joke, it's a Thai somtam slisher for pappaya. The third item on my list. Also handy for making 土豆丝。

After years of using a plastic caddy razor thing that Wolf/Tarmac surfer gave me, I stumbled upon "decent" metal caddy razors in India.

https://www.barberdepots.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Shaving-Factory-Metal-Straight-Razor1.jpg

Two quid for that beauty.

My phone case is pretty square. Have checked it against a level and it seems pretty good. Having said that I never use it for anything that needs to be mega accurate, just footplates, lift tables etc.

My US army surplus stainless steel mug.

Had it about 20 years, not only can I cook in it if I forget a proper cooking pot, with the handle unfolded it will not fall over on uneven ground thus preventing me losing my tea or coffee.

Known by fellow rallyists as that bloody 'bucket' due to it taking most of their kettle water.
