A friend started off with a cheap Chinese motorcycle, but being the size of a brick double garage and the weight of a shire horse, he needed something with a bit more guts, so he has gone Korean, a Hyosung GTP, V twin, 125cc,

Now he has purchased this new, from a dealer. He picked it up on Saturday and thought something was wrong, so called us to have a check over. As he rode it round the carpark we could tell the brakes were binding. So back it went to get the brakes sorted.

The dealer tells him it is normal for the brakes on a new bike to bind. What gonads are they talking? Brakes should not be binding, at all. It is an MOT failure having a binding brake. Which is what we told the dealer. After much argument the bike was taken back in and the brakes were looked at. I think they just pushed the calipers back in because they are binding again!

Our friend is looking at taking the bike over to another dealer to get the problem sorted. When he contacted the other dealer they said "Oh God, not again!" apparently it is quite a common thing for them to fix problems created/ignored by the other dealer.

How can such bad dealers keep a franchise?

People keep buying stuff from them.

Name and shame so when someone googles before buying a bike, they come across this thread.

Just telling us it's in your area (and of course filling in your area on your profile!) is enough to warn people but... Confused

Now he's gone for an expensive heavy Korean bike. Carburettor, 167kg. £2900. He'll be lucky to get offered £1K if he tries to sell it right away.

Reject it as not fit for purpose, spend the money elsewhere. Not with a spiv punting out bikes that he'll likely give up on after 6 months or a year.

Oh, and:

https://forms.vosa.gov.uk/Vsdr/create

And for what it's worth, you might try bawwing to "Hyosung UK" as well, although they're really just a brand of MotoGB.

https://hyosunguk.co.uk/contactus.php

See how much they care about the reputation of one of the eight (8) brands that they import.

The Eurobollocks next January is a real Curate's egg. Fewer bikes is sad, but if it puts some of these crooks out of business, I won't weep over their demise.

I do not want to publish their name, but I can give you a clue.

The Irish building site worker rushes home to show his wife his wellies, to help him get them on the right feet his friends have painted L on the left one and R on the right one.

"Begorrah" his wife says, "So that's why I have C&A in my knickers!"

You can say that again DK motorcycles who are notorious on here for the ringer bike fiasco about 8-9 years ago are still in business.

Hell a few of the BCF norf group even bought bikes off them.

Fixed it for you Thumbs Up

Seriously not impressed with that lot, when I had a minor problem with my Hyosung, they informed me that, it`s not really their problem as the bike was imported before they got the franchise and my bike was old 2011???
They told me about a dealer they used to work with who might be able to help.
Thankfully the dealer in question near Norwich who has Franchises for Kawasaki & Ducati was very helpful and will get business from me again when the time comes

DK, haven't heard of them in a while. They were notorious for selling 'classics' with issues.

Either they have cleaned up their act or no one on here goes near them anymore.

Not motors, just bikes that are not what they claim to be in the company name!

This is my main problem with buying any off-brand bike new, that they're sold by dealers who chop and change whatever they're selling from year to year or even month to month. They have no loyalty to any marque, or interest in building brand or customer loyalty.

Just rinse the next mug through the door for as much as possible for whatever tat they happen to have on the shop floor this week, telling the same pack of lies they told about the last lot of hacks that they had in.

The local multi-marque has recently dropped WK and Royal Enfield in favour of having yet another go at flogging Sinnis and Hyosung bikes, but allah help you when they get bored and drop those brands (again).

I think your multimarque is the same as our local multimarque, a Motogb dealer, seems to be quite a thing with their dealers. Moonraker at Norwich are supposed to be very good though, so there are some diamonds amongst the dross!

I believe MotoGB are just importers, I've never seen them try to build a brand or have exclusive dealers.

Today's menu at the local is: Bullit; Daelim; Hyosung; Keeway; KTM(!); Lexmoto; Motorini; Mutt; Reiju; Sinnis; Zontes.

Some of them are MotoGB, some are independent rebranders. What KTM are doing selling their bikes through this lot, I have no idea.

I'm not even saying that they're bad dealers, just that you can't realistically expect them to care about supporting any of those marques beyond the raw number that they can punt out the door this month.
