Demon Tweeks clothing - Will they refund or not?

I bought these motorcycle trousers about 5 months ago - and the hot air from the engine escaping through the fairing has melted them!!!

Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad

I've emailed them to ask for a refund or whatever they are prepared to do as surely it must be a manufacturing defect?!

Motorcycle trousers that are not suitable to be worn while riding a motorcycle?

They were on offer, so I think I know why now! Anyone dealt with them before for returns? Are they okay about it generally or will they be arseholes?

Twice a day commuting 50 miles each way for the majority of that time.

I cant say I havent got the use out of them, but I (possibly naively) Never considered they wouldnt last me a number of years... Sad

I should probably add that my last pair of textile trousers have lasted 8 years without issue.

I only upgraded them because i was getting a bit larger around the middle!

So if doing 100 miles a day commuting for 5 months, you've about done 2k miles in them without any problems.

I'd suggest that you either did something different today that resulted in them melting or there's something wrong with your bike.

There's melty plastic on your clutch cover from the trousers?

I think its been progressive and Ive just not noticed until today when I caught a bit of the melted bit on little'ns pushbike and it ripped it a bit.

You can see the left leg has a much smaller "melted" bit on in the photo that looks much smaller as if its just starting.

No melted anything on the bike residue or otherwise...

Im not ruling this out though, but I checked when i got back tonight with my bare hands around the area in question and it just wasnt hot enough to make me worried anywhere...

Wondering if its maybe when the fan kicks in?

Thats not progressive, its touched something hot and melted. It looks remarkably like my bike jacket where I touched the hot exhaust whilst chaining the bike up.

The damaged part of the trousers are no where near the clutch cover when i sit on the bike. Smile

It ends up next to the bit I posted. Smile

That was my first thought tbh.

So this morning I checked the state of them - rode to work and back as normal, then carefully got off the bike and inspected them again, and the damage was worse.

Definitely never went near the exhaust (than normal riding anyway!)

There will be melty plastic on the clutch cover or on the exhaust. Find the melty plastic and you'll know what not to do next time.

It's still worth seeing if you can get Demon Tweeks to replace them or refund you but the chances are they'll say that you melting them on a hot engine part or on the exhaust isn't a manufacturing defect.

I've changed my mind about the photo, bike 1 is leaning next to bike 2 so I cant get a decent picture without moving it - which means going out in the cold! Razz

There isnt any melted plastic anywhere. Exhaust / clutch / engine / fairing. Sad

I will however look again tomorrow in the daylight again. I know I havent leant on any engine parts or the exhaust - so im left with some part of the bike getting hotter than its supposed to...

Which then brings me back to your original point of "something wrong with the bike" Sad

I replaced the stock can (the chimney) with a scorpion slip on about 3 weeks ago. And it is since then I started noticing it...

So potentially the culprit. Sad

I dont understand how it could, but then thats not to say it didnt cause it.

Nah, the clutch is on the right. Where the cable/hydralics actuator is may be on the left, but the clutch will be on the right.

Im not engaging him in any way with this... But in what way am I incompetant persay?

Thats the bit I dont get.

Is it a case of small man feels big behind a keyboard as normal? Or has he looked at the pictures and seen something fundamentally wrong with my bike that he is choosing not to share with the group that I've in fact done myself (incompetantly)?

In which case, please share?
