Hi all,

I signed up to a new gym yesterday and for the first time I took my bike. After getting blown around on the dual carriageway for about 7 minutes (also my first time, realising that my GoPro on top of my head was causing a lot of drag back), I finally got there.

Then I realised that the lockers weren't big enough to fit my helmet Mad and I don't have a top box (also reconsidering getting one after the windy experience I've just had).

So regarding the helmet issue, any advice from anyone who has experienced anything similar? I mean I can always take my car to the gym but thought fuel savings would be better on my 125...

At my gym, I just dump all my stuff in a corner. I wouldn't trust some other gyms (PureGym and the like) though.

I try to avoid riding to and from the gym, riding a bike after leg day is fraught with danger.

You need a more powerful bike and you need to stop vlogging.

wrap helmet in carrier bag then chain to bike.

Or ask reception nicely to keep helmet behind desk due to not enough locker space.

If they decline, leave it on, Stig stylee. Idea

Lock it to a bench or pipe or sex swing in the changing rooms. A £1 shop combi lock should be adequate risk management.

Webbing strap with knots or buckles on the end, loop it through the front of the helmet and then trap it in the locker door - then place the helmet on top of the locker.

Although this only works with full-face helmets and with top-row lockers.

Thanks for the advice guys, I like the idea of chaining it to something as it is a full face helmet or maybe putting it on the side in view. I can't cycle to gym as it requires a 3-4mile dual carriageway.

More powerful bike? Yes eventually I will do so.

Vlogging? No it's just for my peace of mind & evidence should I need it.

Just leave it on a seat in the changing rooms but stuff a sweaty sock and a pair of off-white pants with stains front & back inside it. No-one will nick your lid.

I honestly can't see a downside to this suggestion.......

Why any sane person would pay to join a gym, I have to say is something of an anathema to me.

Why drive or ride a motorbike to a gym, to ride a push bike bolted to the floor? Makes no sense.

Crazy notion, if you don't want to cycle to the gym to ride a bike bolted to the floor... why not cycle somewhere else instead?

Who says he's going to ride a pushbike bolted to the floor?

I go to the gym because I don't have anywhere else that has 400kg of weights/bars and racks at my disposal.

Leave mine in a kit bag in the changing room. If it was shitty area I would prob just put it in a bag and bicycle lock it to the bike/changing room bench.

Thinking isn't Mike's best suit. People assume that guys go to the gym to just run/cycle.

Plus this wasn't a thread about ways to exercise, I'm pretty well versed in that area, I've just joined a gym temporarily as it's the best option for my current situation

Again, thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions!

yeah I'm thinking of joining one, not that I need to, but some of my friends go to the same one and for socialising reasons might be nice, but it's one of them 24 hour ones, and wouldn't fancy walking the route home at night, and they mostly use it later on in the evenings
