Hey,

So I'm replacing my chain and sprocket on my bike, got the chain off and all that, front sprocket off. The new one has slightly larger inner teeth than the old one and won't go all the way onto the drive shaft.

I was thinking about greasing it up and 'encouraging' it on with a gentle tap from a hammer, but I'm worries I'll mashup the teeth and the thread on the drive shaft.

Has anyone else had this problem when changing sprockets? I did check before I bought them that it would fit my bike and I was assured that it would fit.

Sorry for the long post.

Ha, you haven't met teff.

..

1988 to 1993 = No flange on Sprocket (Part# JTF 565)
1994 to 2007 = Flange on Sprocket (Part# JTF 516)

Source.

You've got the right part for your bike?

You may have ordered the right part, but that doesn't mean they delivered it. Did they send you a JTF 565 or a 516?

It should be an exact match for the one that's on there, and not require hammering on. Or welding.

JTF 512 is a Kawasaki sprocket.

JFT are adamant that you should need a JTF 516.

Although it looks like the spline and bolt hole measurements are actually the same, it's just the flange size that's different. Thinking

You're a star, thank you so much.

I'll e-mail then now and ask for a new front sprocket.

Do you know if I would have a similar issue with the rear sprocket?
