I was reading a thread on here about creative writing and that got me thinking.
I love my bikes, but what if I cant use them anymore?
What would I do.

I thought I might do what I used to do when I was a kid and take up model making if I was infirm.
Hopefully I would still be able to do a bit of fishing if I wasn`t to wobbly.

What would you lot do if you were unable to ride/use your bikes?

I would buy a car (I only really use a bike to get to work and for learning Spanner Monkeyness)

Permanently? I'd be dead. Well, that's the plan at least since it's not in my list of "to do things" to encourage the inevitable before the time comes and truth be told I'd rather not think about it before the dates due, you only get a limited number of days on bikes and all that. I'm ok with choosing not to use my bike on any given day but much prefer the choice as opposed to the idea of not having one at all, ew. Sick

Probably build a room with memorabilia. It hit me during conversation with someone who rides, but doesn't at the moment, that all the years and monies they put into it and they've got nothing to show for it. I plan to keep at least one part from all my bikes and since that's only one thus far I've got the forks from my Arrow lying around. I'd like to keep as much of my kit as possible even if it only ends up on walls one day. Also keep the last bike I own/ride even if it ends up a rotting frame.

The rest. Well, I can say when the time arrives.

I am getting close to acquiring a two-wheeled project, mebbe, although I currently have two defunct chainsaws, two defunct strimmers (weed whackers to the natives) and a defunct pole saw (that's a chainsaw with a six foot pole between the engine and the blade...) residing in the garage awaiting renewed life. Might not be wheeled but make for fun, easy tinkering, when I get the time.

Spend more time climbing, buying/modding fast(ish) cars for trackdays, and I'd get back to guitar and drumming on a
more productive scale. Always a project to do in one of the properties so although I don't have a job. I'm rarely bored.

Funny, had this discussion this week with the wife. I'm having problems with my neck and shoulders, and wearing a helmet/riding the bike exacerbates it. Assuming I could still drive, I'd probably get something like a Morris Minor Traveller to tinker with. If housebound but still able to, I'd spend a lot of time with a guitar and piano.

I'd get that thing fixed. You'll want it during the zombie apocalypse.
Chainsaws are good, but better if the fun stuff happens a long way away.

Would the cause prevent me from the other stuff I'd want to do... etc

All too depressing to consider really Crying or Very sad

There are a lot of other things that determine why we become bikeless than just getting spackered.
The arrival of sprogs is probably the main reason why most people stop biking - need for extra wheels and budgetry constraints put paid to my biking activities for a couple of years, although I did have a project or two to play with in the garage.
Having emigrated with little funds it's just a case of getting the necessaries sorted and paid for before I hunt for another steed, I could get a bike on credit but I prefer something that requires nurturing rather than a shiny weekend warrior's toy.

I did it the other way around. Since having two kids, I did the bike test and got a bike. The idea was that it's cheaper all round compared to running a second car.

If I lost my legs, I'd probably get one of them wheelchair scooters that look like chariots. And become the best console gamer ever.
If I lost my arms I dread to think what I'd do. Which goes to show just how fucking lazy I am if I value one set of limbs over the other.
