So before I repackage them and send them off for a refund, I just want to check,

They fit fine in terms of length and around the waist, but they are very tight around the knees and dig quite painfully into the back of them.

Is it wrong size, or just poorly made? Its these ones: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00630RVO4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Try to find some with stretch panels. My old A* Bat trousers have been very comfy. Check them out...same price range.

Actually I'm the complete opposite, I am very skinny.

It doesnt feel tight around the skin, its more tight around the actual inside of my joint.

OK I just tried them on without the knee inserts and they are a lot more comfortable but obviously in the event of a crash my kneecaps are gone.

On the plus side you can also walk normally without.
If they fit well otherwise I'd leave them out or persevere and see if they go soft before your knee does.
It will also depend a bit on the riding position, you might change bike in a year or two and find they are OK
I see one other critical reviewer has fat knees Wink

I had a similar issue with some leather trousers. Give it a little time and it will get better.

Have they got a lining in them?
Had a similar problem, I cut out the lining from the knee down, the problem disappeared.
Mine weren't that expensive so I wasn't worried about butchering them, if yours are new and expensive, you might not want to get the scissors out!

they do not have a lining... I'm just going to post them back and do it the proper way and get fitted in a shop.

By the look of the Photoshoot maniken, they appear to cut into the bollocks more than anything, and that's MANIKEN bollocks.

I've had that in the past, always worse on trousers that don't have stretch panels behind the knees. They'll soften up and stretch with use, but if that's uncomfortable then try stretching it somehow, maybe try and get hold of some shoe stretchers and stretch from the inside?

Soaking the leather with water makes stretching them easier.

I'd post them back and find some that fit better. Leathers will be pretty snug when you first get them and then they give a bit to become a great fit, but they shouldn't be painful. It sounds like these particular trousers aren't cut right for you.

Sounds DANGEROUSE.

+1 for sending them back rather than hoping that they stretch.

My RST touring leathers had not stretch panels and kind of bunched and dug at the back of my knees, ok on a cruiser but shit on anything else. Improved vastly by swapping bulky armour for forcefield net armour (thin but CE level 2)

However, stretch-panel leathers fit much much better.
