21 Pilots Ride

The above song is actually pretty deep, and one line/point has stuck with me.

There are plenty of people we'd die for, usually. But in reality, there are no Bodyguard-esque moments for you to throw yourself in front of bullets in.

However, and this is where the true sign of love and devotion come from, there is the daily grind.

The perpetual irritating cycle, on and on it goes, day by day, week by week.

It's enough to make you blow your brains out. But you don't. Something compels you to keep going on this infernal hamster wheel.

What is it? What is the number one person/group of people that keeps you going, or who you keep going for.

Slightly depressive topic, but even if you are delighted with life, consider finishing this sentence in your head.

"I wouldn't kill myself, it would affect __________ too much"

Who is that person.

I have a poll. I have an apple. Poll apple pen Thumbs Up

Edit: I cannot edit the poll, could a mod possibly ate "partner/wife" to it. I remembered to put dog, forgot partner. Says a lot really Laughing

Your brain does two things, the brain stem keeps you going sub-consciously, breathing, feeling, appetite, sleep etc, all your mechanical functions. The other bits are your consciousness, your personality, emotions etc.

The two can conflict.

I'm saying this because I think that if your emotional brain is struggling with "what's it all about", your brain stem is just chugging along looking after your physical needs. If your emotions are saying there's nothing to live for, your brain stem is chugging away not interested in anything else except keeping you alive.

So at the simplest level you live for/because of, your brain stem.

That any help?

Beleive it or not, Ste doesn't have a cat.

He does know where all the cats in the neighbourhood live though.

I live for myself but I don't have the "life is awesome" attitude.

I have the "fuck everyone else attitude".

I think the reason I wouldn't kill myself is basically is it would affect me too much.
I just don't fancy dying right now.
Not afraid of it, just don't fancy it at exactly this moment.

In fact, when it comes down to it, there are only a couple of people who would be affected*, and they are pretty much in joint second place, anyway ... LOL

So yeah, I do live for myself first, and all others later.
And pretty much with the "life is awesome" axiom, cos if it's not awesome, why continue to live that way? If its shit, change it. You're the only one who can change your own life.

*emotionally, not financially, although almost everybody would benefit financially from my death, except the credit card people Laughing

I think one has to have a certain level of arrogance and self-worth to actually compel oneself to go on.

Thing is, you really never know what is around the next corner. If if you don't go around the corner to see what is there* you only have yourself to blame. I'm incurably inquisitive and always want to know "what is coming next".

* and the next corner, and the next, etc

Crying or Very sad Really gonna sound negative here but when it comes down to it you're on your own, so you have to live for yourself. I wouldn't have a problem riding off Beachy Head if it came to it, would feel a little guilty about wrecking the bike Laughing

I like to think that I live to make me happy, but I find that all my (important) decisions seem to focus on ensuring that my family are happy, content and are kept safe.

You can tell winter is settling in. Smile

I choose all of them.

Deep down my existence is worthless but thankfully I'm ignorant to it most of the time with help of the fools who love me and the foolish pastimes I choose.
Distraction is my saviour along with addictions/obsessions.

[edit] That line in that war film 'You're already dead'. That's me that is.

It's an all-nighter to explain myself in full, and quite frankly I'm sure it'd be quite boring. Although I do have some great dick jokes.
